We only use adult only sites and have done so for a number of years, they are far better.
We have just come back from one near Howden, site is called Brenda House. A really nice site. Used to be a cl, but now takes about 24 units. Well recommended

I like peace - by that I mean I don't like rowdy. The site doesn't have to be adult only. I had reason to rethink things this holiday. Two similar sites - one had a lovely feel to it, loads of families and the noise from the children was of children having fun. The other site comes well recommended. However, for the first 3 nights we had under 5's from various families screaming and crying during the night, first thing and last thing at night. I loved the first site (so much so I would consider going for longer) but wouldn't go back to the second. Further down the holiday we went to a site that was full of mature (pensionable age) couples (didn't realise until sited) where i felt there was no character or atmosphere but plenty of peace and quiet - I won't return to that one either. On paper the site/s I should have preferred were the two I wouldn't return to.
I think more and more sites are going down the adult only route and who can blame them, no need for them to provide play areas, in fact a lot less hassle for them.
The last two sites we have been to were A/O and they were full, I think they get a steady stream of regulars.
We haven't purposely sort AO sites..but we've tended to find that the areas that we visit aren't really that popular for families with kids anyway(Cotwolds etc = .."this isborin'..!" )and we're also able go go outside of school holiday periods..yay!
Had to laugh at the earlier post about the kiddie's plastic stabiliser wheels!
(..rattle...scrape...rattle...scrape... )
Edit: Just to add,I'd agree with feeblecat though..it is nice to have some balance..as some of the sites we've visited have been very "elderly"(no offence intended )with us in our mid 40sbeing the youngest by a good few decades! and the only sound being that of bl**dy yappy little dogs!
