Hiya. I am camping at Sumners Pond this weekend with the wife and our two daughters. I've not fished there before and wondered if anyone can advise what the fishing is like there?
Ta.

I went there several years ago. At that time they had two lakes in the main camping area and a third lake had just been completed beyond the wooded area. I don't think the third lake was fully open at that time.

The main lake was very slow and difficult and the nearby smaller lake was like fishing an ornamental pond...a fish every cast (almost)... good fun for the kids but a bit boring for seasoned anglers although some good sized bream and carp were coming out. I used float fished luncheon meat with great success.

The main lake was really a specimen carp hunter's dream but I didn't see much come out and the bite alarms that many carp anglers use were a little annoying at times. I believe boilies were the choice bait...no success with luncheon meat that's for sure

Very nice site though, if a little expensive, and they do first class breakfasts in the little lakeside cafe
