We have booked up to go to St Ives bay holiday park in cornwall next May, and im just looking for a bit of feedback from anybody who has been there. We are also taking our 4 year old daughter.
I have been told it is a bit of a hike down to the beach, is this true ?
Many thanks for any info given - Jason

Yes it is a bit of a hike but its a great beach and well worth the walk. We were there about 4 years ago and we now prefer to use Gwithian as there are now only the 2 of us. Its a real family site with lots of onsite activity which is too much for us now. My only grip was that at the time you could not book a pitch you had to tour around to find one that was vacant. That was a real pain when arriving on site on a busy Saturday but that may have changed now. The shop is very good and not overpriced, the club if you use it is good, there is an onsite pool and restraunt near the beach. All in all its a good site but large and very busy.

We stopped there for a week in a static last Oct, so most things closed up but pool open mornings. From where we were we had a nice view over the bay. Even from the tourer area the walk to the beach ain't that far but a bit of a climb down & it is a nice beach, as good as any in the area.
If the sun shines you could certainly spend some days without leaving the site & beach, which is good considering most beaches in Cornwall you have to drive to charge you about £4 to park.
We went for a week in a chalet a few years ago - didn't see much of the camping area but it looked ok - son and his friend liked the pool but it was very busy and I had to supervise as he was under 12 - cafe a bit holiday campy.Didn't use the club house
Are you very fit? I managed to get down to the beach twice Hubby only managed it once ha ha - it's nearly vertical and on soft sand so it's a killer. There is another beach not too far away with a zig zag path to it and rock pools so a bit more to do - beach is lovely though
we used to go there when i was a kid..for the whole holidays it was beautiful...went there for a nosey round summer before last and didn't like it at all :( it was sooooooooooo busy with everyone crammed in...people reinforcing there pitch boundaries with windbreaks :( it looked rather manic tbh :(
