Does anyone know what access is like? website states that a "swing out" is needed when going through the gates.

Not sure what they mean by that. I didn't have any problems when we stayed there - although I did only have a Freedom caravan - 9 feet long - at the time. But I don't remember any of my fellow campers having any problems either and they all had much bigger vans.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.

Thanks Caz. We have a big twin axle, were there any vans like that? Is it a nice site and do you recall whether there are lots of trees on one side? (very important this, for OH and his satellite tv).

No, no twin axles. There are trees down one side, along the drive. I don't recall anyone complaining about the TV signal. We went in March, did have a bit of trouble towing off due to the mud now I think about it.

Also the lane on the approach is narrow - single track.

Thanks, think we will give it a miss. We don't do mud, or single track lanes.

I live in Ruthin, and I wouldn't really advise taking the route that Adams suggests, yes you avoid having to turn in by coming at the junction from the opposite direction, but that is an even narrower road, the start of which is in town past loads of parked cars. But if you really want to do it, from the Tesco's roundabout in Ruthin, take the A525 towards Wrexham, turn left after the Anchor Pub and past the community Hospital, fork left at the top of the hill, and then after about half a mile it brings you to the junction, opposite the gates of Bathafarn Hall.

The best way is to turn off the A494 onto the B5429 after Llanbedr. The CL is 400 yards on the left. the B5429 single lane but it's not narrow. Full sized school buses use it. See for yourself below, this view is looking north back towards the A494, and you would have to swing out to turn left into the fenced entrance.
