We have stayed at three campsites near Blackpool, the best one being knepps Farm. It is on the north side, we thought it was great.
You dont say if you have a caravan or tent in your profile though, so I am not sure if they take tents.
I haven't stayed at Knepps Farm but I've been past it, and if you ignore the ICI works next door it's in a lovely location on the River Wyre estuary and part of the Wyre Country Park, so great for dog walking/cycling. Nearer to Fleetwood though rather than Blackpool

We didnt find the ICI works a problem. Had been aware of it from reading reviews on here, so didnt know what to expect.
We didnt go to Fletwood, so dont know if it was closer, but didnt find it a long distance from centre of Blackpool.Got a lot of good advice from another poster on here with regard to parking, both in the centre and at the pleasure beach, which proved to be very helpful.
Marton Mere is a nice site, the camping area looks over a nature reserve. It has a swimming pool, bar and restaurant, crazy golf and a shop. It doesn't take tents though as it is hardstanding only but I think there were trailer tents.
We stayed there last year, it is in Blackpool itself and about a 10 minute drive to the tower. It isn't that far but there is alot of traffic lights inbetween making the journey slow.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
