If you mean watching the show from a campsite then there is one just a few miles along the coast road towards Marsden. Lizard Lane Caravan Park. It's just a very short walk from the headland.
I mentioned it on here a few weeks ago re another request and the consensus of opinion was, it's not the best but for an overnight should be just what you are looking for.
The Grange CC site mentioned by Vectratot is to far away, about 15 miles.
I live in Sunderland the only site's are sandhaven at south shields and Lizard land at Marsden, There are no camp or caravan sites in Sunderland. There is a lovely site at finchale abbey just outside sunderland but it is an adult only site. If you had a motorhome they do allow you to park along the sea front but I think you'd have to get there the day before.

debi sanderson is right about the sites being there but lizard lane is a site for statics a few old ones have been there for ages not a site for tourers and the one in shields is not available these days again not much to offer the caravan club site at grange durhm literally off the a1m at carrville is ideal you won't be able to see the show from there though you will hve to travel into sunderland there are no sites for you to sit in your armchair to watch the proceedings
filing the grange you are going to hve to travel mile this part of the north east is not littered with sites there's one just down the road from me but they have got rid of tourers for some reason or other - not that many came
the c,c,c.have a holiday site at herrington country park (opp. penshaw monument) just off a19.also a farmer lets units use a field in whitburn that overlooks the air show sorry i dont know any contact details for this site
Lizard Lane site does allow tourers but isnt the nicest of sites despite the views. It is the nearest site to the airshow. The farm behind lizard lane normally allows a rally on there field on the weekend of the show. Its a shame sunderland dont have a caravan site because the coastline is lovely.
