hello all, time of the year again whre Pitch hunting is Paramount, as the search is not working sorry if this is a topic elsewhere reading the reviews of vauxhall , pitches are the main talking point, can anyione suggest a sized pitched through experience, (21ft unit ),with the choice of sitting out two kids 7 and 8, any info , guidance would be great cheers
Hi there, we are going this Whit, if you are in a caravan, have you considered one of their super pitches as they are the only ones (I think) which you can pre book and be guaranteed of a decent size (including elec, water, waste & freeview point). Im sure that the price for these pitches are only around £2 more than standard pitches per night. I think its pot luck with the rest of the site as some pitches apparently have barely enough space for the awning. All good news about the actual place though!
Thanks, Yes sorry Caravan ,got a park map form them today via email that actually i could read, the on line pic is useless, and i did enquire about prebooking pitches nad they confirmed the web page note Book Early to ensure you get your favourite pitch. so looking to get the info before i book, cheers
Looked round here a few years ago.
Agree that the pitches were very close together and thought the road round them was narrow as well.
Dont know about the super pitches though.

If i was you i would avoid the super pitches as they can be not alot of room once you have out awning up and parked the car. The better pitches for space are area pitches on the map 133 to 152 not 153 by the side of the toliet and shower block, pitches 103 t0 128 above the swimming pool. the pitches 1 to 15 are not too bad and the piches 28 to 83 are ok but a long way away from the facilities by the side of a raod that runs to an industrial estate.
I would avoid pitches 155 to 218 are these are varying degrees in size and used majority of the time by tents.
Hope this helps we have been going now for ten years and are going this year as well

Aargh could've done with talking to you before we booked our super pitch!!!! Hopefully we'll be ok though as I google earthed it and went for a corner one which looked fairly generous! Good tips about the pitches though as I wasn't aware you could take your pick from the standard pitches and the girl who took my booking couldn't tell me any thing about size and location of them.
You should be ok they are of generous size and are designed for caravans as are all the other pitches except 168 to 218 which are tent pitches but are used by both and do vary in size. There is just more room on the first lot of pitches i mentioned for the kids to play around the caravan.
We camp with a 17ft x 14ft frame tent and put a 6ft x 6ft utility tent by the side of it plus car and trailer on pitch and still have room to sit in our recliners.
cheers

Been going to Vauxhall on and off for over thirty years and have pitched up in most areas of the site.. First I would like to say that all pitches are of adequate size, true some may vary but none of them are too small for your van. I would concur with Steve that the ones by the swimming pool are probably the most convenient area. The serviced pitches are right over at the western edge of the site. but are well worth the extra couple of quid. I'd avoid the far north east corner cos the neighbours are a steel fabrication company that start at 7am and are inclined to be a little noisey. Enjoy the site, we always do, was the second site we ever went to 33 years ago the first week we had a van and took all our kids and since then our grandchildren too. I know it's not the cheapest but you get a lot for your money and probably be there ourselves sometime in June......................Mick
Great response and a great help, phoned in today , only three pitches left to take our van (31st July to august 13th) 117,151,133, on hardstanding, quoted as 19ft pitches
our van is 21ft incl a frame, so i gather it will take afull 17ft awning
done and dusted, and thanks to the posters on this topic , managed to book pitch 108 a 21ft pitch, on the recommended list,,goung to be busy we know, kids all ready looking forward to it, btw i manged to get a pdf map of the site, as the web page is pretty poor mail me if you would like one,
Thanks for that Mickey, don't mind being away from the centre as its nice to escape all the buzz for a while. As long as we can fit our caravan, awning & car and still be able to sit in the sun that is heading our way this year then we will be happy. My kids have been slobbering over Vauxhall's glossy brochure for weeks now!!

Hi there.
Have been told there are pitches available 133 - 152 but I have realised they are hardstanding, and I have a folding camper and need to peg down bed underskirts, so have been told there are pitches 155 - 218 as these are grass. I have been told these are all 30ft sq pitches? Are some of these pitches bigger than others?as I need to peg down bedskirts? Or, could you suggest other pitches?
Regards...

Hi
Avoid pitches 164 to 168 they are the smallest pitches, and pitches 174 to 178 they can become a bit boggy. All the other pitches are roughly the same size.
Besides the mention of the piches to avoid...are there any others I could consider?
Nik
