Hi,
For my 17th birthday party I wanted to go camping with my friends. There could be up to 10 of us and I was wondering if you could help me with a few things (:
- Do you know of any camp sites that would accept that many people, I know some are very anti-teenagers. I live in Manchester so the nearer the better (sort of) and preferably one near a pub or restaurant in walking distance. It also needs to have a train station nearby as we will be getting the train there. I've been to Edale (Coopers camp site I think, it's infront of a lovely mountain/hill? Which I managed to get to the top of!) before which was lovely although I'm not sure they would be so keen on having 5-10 teenagers there.
- One big tent, or a few small ones?
- BBQ or something else?
Any other information would be great. Please bare in mind we are responsible teenagers, no one will be drinking and if they are it won't be to get drunk. The date is going to be in April some time and it will probably be a weekend (Friday to Sunday) as we all need to be available and I've got a dodgy half term this year.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Sorry to ask but if you wont be drinking why do you want a pub?
You will find it extremly hard to get a campsite to allow 5-10 teenagers on especially as 2 weeks of April will have the school holidays in it.
Why not try to find a site with a rally field, you may stand more chance or even a farmer who can let a field for a night or so, look where the train stations are and see whats in that area, as trying to look the other way around.
You say one big tent or a few small ones, if your travelling by train how do you expect to transport a big heavy tent plus all your gear to and from the site?
Although your love of camping and a wish to do so for your birthday is to be applauded, i cannot see you finding a site to take you all as a group without a responsible over 18 adult, or ideally a couple of fun type parents, who would be prepared to sign on the dotted line regards any noise or nusance, damage or injury caused by your actions during your stay. Quite a few sites are governed by the terms and conditions of their licence and insurance policies, so please dont take this the wrong way, im sure your all a very nice bunch of teenagers indeed, but sadly no campsite owner will have proof of that from any teen that requests to camp on their site, and maywell not want to take the risk of upsetting his other campers, some of whom may be regular customers to his site .
Maybe you would be better off looking for the Youth hostels association type accomodation, and seeing what they maybe able to offer you in the area you plan to visit?

Sadly many campsites don't accept unaccompanied under 18s or large groups. We're a group of responsible, 30-40something mums and we struggled last year to find a site that would accept us!
My son wanted to celebrate the end of his exams last summer by going camping with 3 friends and we couldn't find a single site that would take them - I even offered to pay a bond but it was a no go.
Maybe try looking for sites that has a rally field or perhaps find a couple of adults who would be willing to come with you (in their own tent) I would have thought that if you're using public transport that several small 2-3 berth tents would be easier to carry than one large one.
Good Luck and Happy Birthday

Hi,
Well I'm thinking of turning up at Edale again and paying the 'noise deposit'. If there is only 6 of us it's no different to a family really. And now I know that area (ish!) I can get around easier. Any more info would still be great though guys! Thanks :D
Haha, thanks :)
We really won't be so I think that might be the plan, go up in separate groups and camp together. If anyone hears of anywhere else though, do let me know! Thanks :D
Hope it all works out for you pablo94. Not all teensagers are irresponsible, unfortunatley some people judge all teenagers by the minority of irresponsible ones. Prove them wrong and have a great birthday whatever you can arrange.

Haha, thanks glynnis51 and hejc72
It is a shame that a small minority ruin our reputation. I for one have add probably 100 ml of alcohol in my life. It was horrendous. Why would you drink something you don't like? :')
It's a shame that I can't organise my own 17th properly because of these people. Hopefully I'll find a way :D
