We're planning to take the tent up to Northumberland over the Easter weekend and we're trying to choose between Proctor's Stead campsite at Craster, or Beachcomber near Berwick. We stayed at Proctor's Stead last May half term and although the owner said it was almost full, there was still plenty of space and it didn't feel busy at all - I can't imagine it'd be any busier at Easter.
Has anyone ever stayed at Beachcomber over a busy period and can tell me what it's like when it's full? It sounds like a really nice campsite and we'd definitely give it a try if we were just going on any old weekend, but I've stayed at campsites that can be horrendous at peak times so if that's the case with this one then we'll go for Proctor's Stead at Easter and save Beachcomber for another time.
Thanks!

That's odd, they weren't full when I spoke to them this evening!

Have you read the reviews on here for Beachcomber? I think it is a site you either love or hate depending on what you expect from a site. I know many people who have stayed there and enjoyed it. It is also the one place that I know of where various folk have lost a tent due to the winds. For myself it's a none starter but I'm a lover of short flat grass and very clean facilities!! Have stayed at Proctor's a number of times and would happily return. If you're a ccc member, the Beadnell site is across the road from the dunes.

I have read the reviews and it sounds like normally Beachcomber would be a site I'd like - the quieter and more basic the better, as far as I'm concerned. The wind can't ever be as bad as it was on a camping trip in Derbyshire last year and our tent survived that (although I may be jinxing myself saying that!)
The main thing I want to know is whether Beachcomber is the sort of site that packs on as many tents as possible on busy weekends, or whether it still feels like there's a good amount of space. I know Proctor's Stead was OK for this when we went last year, but I do fancy going further north this time if Beachcomber won't be too cramped.
