This is probably a strange request but hey its my passion .... Im wanting a campsite thats nice price, takes large tents, dogs, EHU ? and most importantly Military LOW FLYING JETS !
Thanks Andy
When I stay at my friends cottage in the Nant Gwynant area I am frequently woken by the roar of jets. In fact one (hungover) morning the I was just opening my eyes when through a gap in the curtains I saw a Tornado hurtling straight for the cottage which then roared overhead, Most of the time I go there I get a free air show, usually about 10ish in the morning. Although you would probably see them lower closer to Anglesey. Lots of camp sites around here but nearest EHU site I see is Cae Du in Beddgelert

Ok - there are a few sites around RAF Valley - am not sure what they are called as I don't use them as I work here!!
There is one site I can recommend and it is a Caravan and Camping Club site - but they do accept non-members and I dont think they charge anything extra for not being a member. It is a small site LLanfair Bach and it is on Penrhos Beach Road, Holyhead - it takes dogs too. It is walking distance from the beach, pub and supermarket/retail park and in the coming weeks a KFC!
Barbara is the name of the lady that owns it and I got quoted £10 per night with hook up for a caravan (parents visiting!) so it could be cheaper for a tent - not sure.
You are right above the flight path for the Hawks and the Search and Rescue training squadrons - you can often see them training off the beach.
There is also a spotters car park at Valley - also a spot near to the Cymruran Hotel which I think has a little cafe near by and you can see all the activity going on on base from the sand dunes.
There are also lots of visiting aircraft due to the Mach Loop circuit and various exercises that go on.
There are a few others - Trearddur Bay and Rhosneigor but for closer action - I can recommend the C & CC site.

There is also one called Blackthorn Farm - which again takes tents and caravans.
We have visited friends at this site - it is a little out of the way - but it is a lovely site not far from South Stack Lighthouse and again you would get splendid viewing of the aircraft as well as views of Trearddur Bay.
Dearer than Llanfair Bach but still nice.

A friend at work stayed at Tattershall Lakes Country Park, Lincolnshire last summer and said the regular low flying jets made the stay extra special I think they cater for all sizes of tent - good fishing too !

I've been into aviation for a while and the kids love it too. We've been to the RIAT for a few years, but never stopped over. We've a friend who gets us free tickets in to the airshow, she refuels the aircraft for the weekend.
There is plenty there for me to look at and thank you for the link to the other post on the subject.. The virtual brochure is a god send! LOL

I don't know if its true but someone once told me that on their training flights they will fly low down a valley and select a house in their sights for practice.

Im not sure if they take tents, but Lakeside near Louth in Lincolnshire have regular training RAF flights low over the site, as they practice bombing raids over the sand bank target areas in The Wash, and if my memory serves me right, theres another advantage point along the coast road for watching them there called 'Donnar Nook'.

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3494 Silver Sands in Lossie, right beside the RAF base and on a fantastic beach. Also as the base is under threat of closure it could be your last chance to sample this location. there is also loads to do in the area.
We stayed at Ty Hen a couple of years ago, (and had planned to go back last year) and you that was right next to the flight path for take off and land for Valley. We loved it.
