We had a great day out yesterday in Clumber Park. We got well packed up and stayed for a BBQ. Whilst there I found out that they now have a camping field, where the BBQ field is and that it was also open last year. This is separate to the Caravan club site.
At first the idea seemed great, could even cope without an EHU for a night or too. The weather was great and the field got busy but not packed, but it has kind of put me off. As the day went on more and more cars of teenagers appeared, until the background was a constant thud thud of several dance tunes. They were driving stupidly fast around bikes, kids and dogs.
I have looked on the site reviews and there are none for it last year. Just wondered if anyone stayed and if this happens every sunny day. It doesn't say if they allow single sex groups or not, and if there is any sort of curfew?
I am hardly an old grump, but tend to go away to chill and have fun, just can't see us being able to with corsa's racing across the field! I am really torn as I love the park, but can see this site being a nightmare, or worse still a danger.

There are plans apparently to open a proper site that allows tents - this would probably be more suitable. I always thought people just put up their tents for the day, then went home, wasn't aware you could stay over - the loo question is the obvious one? Just had a quick look and you can hire yurts and pods - camping may come later if they get permission.
There is another thread lower down, saying that they are opening a camping site, subject to planning permission. Personally I can't wait, we go alot in warmer months with our bikes, were there too yesterday as well Mrs. Peach. Shame you encountered some noisy youths. Driving fast anywhere annoys me, but at Clumber where there are loads of children, mine included, riding bikes and playing grrrrrrr... We usually park in a field just off Limetree Avenue (we are NT members, not trying to get out of paying ) and usually nice and peaceful.
We were parked up in the BBQ field and yes there were a few groups of teenagers with some loud music and some silly driving, but the wardens were driving through and this did stop them.
I went over to talk to the campsite warden and they are having a noise curfew and this will be enforced by their night security guy. The camping field looks good, but a little uneven. There are 3 toilets and 3 electric showers for men and the same for women. Two wash up sinks (covered by a gazebo) and fire points and water on the field. No EHU for tents. You can book (£15 night low season, £20 high, per tent), or take your chance and turn up. Campers get discount in the restaurant, but there are no concessions for NT members. Warden said that the BBQ field generally empties by 8pm.
Wigwams and pods also look good.
The warden told me that I needed to book at the info centre, but the girl there said not. Apparently you have to ring up at the moment. We are going to book a couple of nights for the end of May and see what it is like.
I would be grateful for any feedback in the meantime if any one stays.

interested to keep an eye on this one, it would be a fab place to camp properly (rather than "quietly" as some people allegedly do)
used to cycle there a lot after work but stopped going as the local lads use the roads for race tracks in their noisy cars - quite a few of the roads are public and no one seemed to want to stop them. If the traffic situation changed and we could get some peace at night we would bring the kids for sure
funnily enough we were there the other day and were commenting at the amount of tents up and wondering why pple would put up a tent for the day ..unless it was a new one and they didn't have room in the garden in which case...what a good idea! Didn't realise you could actually camp there...didnt' know they had any facilities. Was v v busy and noisy when we went thourough around 3pm,(and we have our own loud teenagers , 3 of them, who play music, etc but wouldn't do it on a family camping field) lots of loud music etc so not peacefull but if the wardens went and asked the music to be turned down I'd imagine would be a lovely place to camp..will be keeping an eye on it as only an hour from us!
