hi can anyone help ,we have 7 chilkdren ,all under 12 ,we have our own minibus used as a daily runaround ( yeah yeah we know )so far we have attempted to book at no less than 12 sites ,wales barmouth ,dorset ,...but they are classing the bus as a commercial vehicle and wont accept our booking ,,do we "not tell them ,and risk being turned away or does anyone know a site ,kid freindly ,near the beach , that accepts large families ( or do we buy a car and smuggle the kids in the boot ) surely if they accept large families ,then they must accept their means of getting to the site ?
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Hi welcome, i think i would just say its a family people carrier and not a mini bus after all it is a private vehicle for family use. Hope you get sorted ok.
I dont see a problem with a mini bus, but do feel its always best to be honest. Last night we had someone turn up who had booked a pitch for a 2 man tent, failing to tell us about the speed boat on a trailer he was towing which was bigger than the car! As it happened its not a problem this weekend but if it had been any of the last 4 weekends it may well have been, especially as we are only a small site!
Your not being dishonest by not telling them what transport your using! Yes towing a boat and not saying is out of order but if your paying for 7 children then they must realise you need a rather large means of transport! Just book and pay for the 9 of you! Good luck.

Common sense should tell them that you aren't going to be driving a Micra. Gone are the days when 4 or 5 of you would be squashed across the back seat and the youngest on mum's knee.
We've got 7 kids as well (ranging from 14 down to 2 in age) and have a 14 seater minibus. Booked in to stay at Deers Glade in Norfolk without any problems and was up front about family size and vehicle - very friendly site as a base for Norfolk and reasonably close to the coast.
I have looked at lots of sites and its depressing how many stipulate a maximum party of 6 or 8 - despite a fair few of them having no problem with 9 and 10 berth tents, what's even worse is that places such as Haven (which the older children have been to) are amongst those that have a limit of 8 or less...
I'm now trawling through listings in other parts of the country to find a destination or two for next year... wish me luck!
