Hello all,

Just wondered how many of you had stayed around this area before and found it absolutely crazily expensive????

I've made enquiries over the last few day for campsites around the Abersoch area and all campsites are quoting between £18 to £23 per night for one person in a two man tent, no car or other requirements needed.

This is crazy! I've never paid more than £8-9 a night for just myself and a small tent in some of the most stunning places around the UK. Why so expensive here???

One campsite today said myself and a friend could share one 'large' pitch between two separate people (each in a two man tent) for £23 a night (or £11.50 each). Another site (who said they were 5*) stated it was £23 per person per 2 man tent per night, a total of £322 for the two of us for the week.

In contrast, this month I rented a seaside cottage for 7 nights for two in Guernsey for £265!

Am I missing something here or are campsites around the Abersoch area taking campers for a complete ride?

Grateful for any opinions.

B

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

The campsites around Abersoch do seem to be extremely expensive; the town attracts a lot of wealthy watersport/sailing types from the NW, with beach huts and chalets going for ridiculous prices. However unless you need to be right in Abersoch then I would suggest widening your search area slightly. There are campsites around nearby Aberdaron which are a fraction of the price. My family and I (2 adults and children) have just stayed at Ty Newydd near Aberdaron for £12 per night including electricity, a price which is pretty representative of sites in this area.

Were off to Aberdaron late august!
use the search function and have a look around Nefyn also which is only about 15 mins from Abersoch. we frequent a site in Nefyn which is £12 per pitch for 4 people with electric, not a bad price for caravan and awning plus family!
