hi, went there a couple of years ago, clean and tidy, warden friendly.Only prob you're near a very busy junction and i think theres a police station nearby as quite often you could hear sirens even through night.
Close to Southport and Formby though. But you do need you're car to get anywhere.I think i remember a small row of shops though and maybe a takeaway.
thanks , no idea how i failed to find the many reviews !!! not too fussed about road noise , we are at a birthday bash in formby on the saturday and getting a lift there and taxi back late on.
its just a base to sleep really . would have gone on a cl but all miles out from where we need to be and the club site at southport is fully booked
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
From what I can gather the site at Fromby Point has a dragon for a Warden (may have changed), Somebody got told off because their child was playing in the sand - the damn thing is on the beach near enough.
Yes Willowbank is near a busy junction - but both Formby and Southport are 10 minutes down the road.
Willowbank is one of our favourite places to stay, we were there about a month ago. The site is very well run and clean, the shower blocks are spotless and the wardens are knowledgeable and friendly. Even when busy there never seems to be a queue for showers. As mentioned above, there's not much in the immediate area but Southport, Ainsdale, Formby and a couple of supermarkets are a short ride away. If you go to Southport follow the coast road and use the Park & Ride (£1 per day except Bank Holidays). The Merseyside Police helicopter is based at the next-door airfield but it's never really troubled us. There's a small kids playground and a large playing field for them as well.
AAAAAHHHHHHRRRRRRRGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!! Park & Ride £1.50, I'll never go again!
Seriously, I forgot they were about to increase the price, it's still a bargain though. For comparison, our local town charges £2.40 for 3 hours parking and there's b***** all to look at.
I was going to say that the park and ride was now £1.50, but copog beat me to it. Still not bad as you can park there all day, and there is a frequent bus service into Southport included. It is about the cheapest place to park if you are in Southport any length of time.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
