Thought we might head over Llandudno way for half term (end of May) but not much listed there. Surely that can't be right - thought there would be plenty of sites? Any suggestions?

Anglesey is not much further, lots of sites, great beaches, lovely island and short drive to the mainland for Snowdonia, Llandudno, Caernarvon (sp?) etc
Llandudno is mainly an area of shopping outlets and Housing estates, all dominated by the rocky headland of the Great Orme, theres no fields or countryside as such that would take a campsite, the nearest would be Colwyn Bay to the North, or the Conwy valley area and out towards Snowdonia.
The nearest big site is the Conwy Tourist Park, best approached via Treifew to avoid the narrow arches of the castle walls if towing from the North, its a nice park with lovely views across the estuary, has an onsite pub and childrens play area, but is very strict on not having any groups on site, we stopped going there after the problems we had with staying at the same time as our adult daughter, despite having separate units far across the campfield, but they were extremely rude to us when they found we were related, even though we were quiet and caused no trouble at all. It may have changed hands since then (2007) but we have now found a small CL nearby and prefare to use that instead.

it actually gets quite windy around LLandudno. Comwy is beautiful, or you could head towards Betws y coed, shed loads around there and a beautiful drive.

Spring Bank Holiday Weekend. It is 10 mins walk to Caernarfon from the site. 20 mins approx drive to Llandudno. This is my first visit to this site so I can't review it yet, but the pictures and reviews on here are fantastic!! Apparently the showers are 'to die for'. So, that did it for me!! Oh yeah, aswell as the nice flat pitches and Ehu.
It also had a children's play area and a stream running through the site. Idyllic.....

Longing to be camping somewhere......anywhere...
I would agree with others - Conwy is a good place to get a site.
There are lots of sites around Snowdonia and even if you stayed on Anglesey it would not take long to drive to Llandudno - we live in Holyhead and do alot of our shopping at Llandudno and it takes us 40 mins to get there.
Caernarfon has some nice sites.

There are a couple of sites well worth checking out in Penmaenmawr which is about 8 miles further along the A55 from the Llandudno turn (coming from Chester) Trwyn -Y- Wylfa is one of them. Quite basic but good. Great for walks over the hills immediately behind and a short stroll down to the beach but only 15 minutes to Llandudno.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
