Sorry, I think I'm being a bit dim!
I'm looking at Pensvey Bay, near Hastigs, and on the ccc website it says prices are:
Adult £10.05 £6.90 £5.90
Child £2.85 £2.65 £2.65
Members' age concession rate £4.90 £4.15 Members' family deal £24.55 £17.85
Non-member fee per pitch per night £7.10 £7.10 £7.10 Member back packer £6.50 £4.90 £4.15 Non-member back packer £8.35 £6.40 £5.80
Club Service Pitch (per pitch, per night) £3.55 £3.55 £3.55
Jumbo tent pitches £10.20 £7.10 £7.10
So, for a non-member, does that mean we pay £10.05 per adult, PLUS pitch fee of £7.10, PLUS £2.85 per child, PLUS £3.55 for a ehu pitch all per night???
That's over £32.00!!
Seems expensive pricing it per adult and per tent, or am I getting it wrong?
Are there huge benefits from joining for tenter's?
Thank you xx

CCC charge that way for non members which is expensive and why many pay £39 annual membership. Then depending how many times you use a CCC site you could recover costs in cheaper fees. Apart from that there is a monthly magazine and opportunity of using smaller affiliated sites and meets

Thank you Fotogen,
I noticed on the site I was looking at the fees for members were still over £27 a night, pretty basic site, with just a play area and close to the sea, which i think is quite high. There is another one nearby charging £22 a night,so will plump for that one instead, as I don't think we go camping enough per year to warrant to club fees if they are still pretty high.
Is the magazine free with club membership?

Is anything really free? other than it is included as part of membership, along with "Your Place in the Country" listing all CCC sites and another thicker book "Your Big Sites Book listing hundreds of sites, many which only CCC members can use. The monthly magazine has a section various meets and temporary holiday sites.

We always paid the Members family deal + club service pitch fee which would be £28.10 per night in high season for up to 6 people. If you don't want to join then it would be per adult + per child + EHU + non member pitch fee = £36.45 per night. I'm a bit baffled by the jumbo tent pitch....is that another £10.20 per night?
If you use the sites 2 or 3 times a year then its best to join, the sites we've been to have always been clean and we've never been squashed in as they stick to the 6 metre rule all year round. If you plan to use a ferry to Europe it can be cheaper to book through the club, we've always saved enough to more than cover our membership fees.
Jumbo pitches - from the Your Big Sites Book, current edition:
A Jumbo Pitch is a grass pitch for larger tents, where the tent measures more than 5m x 9m. You will pay a supplement for one, along with a Club Service Pitch fee is appropriate.
Not very clear!
Joining the Club as a family is a much better deal (though not for singletons unless you can get away a lot ) - as had been said 2/3 nights camping will cover your £39 membership fee.

2 Adults at 10.05 GBP each = 20.10 GBP
1 Child at 2.85 GBP each = 2.85 GBP
1 Non-member pitch fee at 7.10 GBP per pitch = 7.10 GBP
1 Club Service Pitch at 3.55 GBP = 3.55 GBP
Total = 33.60 GBP per night.
The non-member pitch fee is what it says - extra charge for pitching at a club site by non-members.
The price for the Club Service Pitch is for a pitch with EHU, unless one opt for a non-EHU pitch which I believe is cheaper, however, I do not know by how much as I have never camped at a Club Site without EHU.
If one stays at a C&CC site more than a few nights at a time, then it makes sense to join as a member will save on non-member pitch fee and also benefit from the family package deal.

On my most recent trip I spent a night at two C&CC campsites. At both sites I paid the 'mid-price' fee per adult plus the £7.10 fee for a non-member pitch (can't remember if I paid for the dog).
I used these two C&CC sites for two reasons: firstly, because both were located more or less where I wanted to be and secondly because I was sure I'd enjoy first rate facilities and a quiet night.
My experience of these - and previous - C&CC sites is that they offer first class facilities and a very friendly and quiet environment. Against that, they are certainly not cheap (especially for non-members) and they tend to be a bit staid and, in some cases, slightly regimented.
I am now seriously thinking about joining the C&CC (something I have not even considered in the past) as I'd probably recoup my membership fee over the course of the year. Since retiring I go camping a lot more and as I grow older, I like a bit of pampering now and again.
One is unlikely to have people pitching on top of each other, no noise after 23:00h and before 07:00h, no ball game except in designated play area etc., in addition to good clean facilities, what's not to like?!

Dk, I realise the extra fee is for non members, but take that off and its still expensive!
What I meant was if I
see nice sites nearby for a lot cheaper, what are the bonuses if joining anyway, if you see what I mean.
The rules about noise are handy though, I have a 4 year old those parents need their beauty sleep, lol

Only you can weigh up the pros and cons and decide if it suits you to join C&CC.
Each to their own at the end of the day.

Even though I can only stay 2 nights at 2 CCC sites this year (might have a possible third but no way can sort that till last minute, we are staying as a meet and is just over £5 ppn - pitch included - well good value. If I do the third 2 nighter at under £10 ppn, my membership fee covered.
It's horses for courses, I'm afraid; we are all different and need to sort out what we need/want!
I like the CC&C sites, because I know what I am getting, ie, no one pitching on top of me, (6 metre rule)lots of clean facilities, no noise after 11am and if kids on site, they are tending to be playing in the play area, not in front of my tent with a ball etc.. and wardens who do keep an eye on things, and won't be scared to tell people to "keep the noise down".
