we are staying at the above site for a long w/e next w/e - which also coincides with our wedding anniversary - anyone know the area & can recommend a nice restaurant for the Saturday night

I would think it's best if at weekends, TBH, especially if it's Three Counties Show weekend. I'll ask at work tomorrow as some of my chums live in that area & see what they recommend. Swan is probably closest, 5 minute or so walk, if I remember, but haven't been there for a couple of years!

Stayed at Blackmore last August around the time of the 3 counties show Ims0110. we walked to the Swam which is about a mile away. When we went it was raining and the pub was comfortable, not too full etc. we never booked just turned up on spec.
Food was nice, beer is good too, also the beer garden is plenty big enough with a childs play area. There is a family butchers next door, can't remember the name, but get some bacon and sausage to cook in the morning, very very nice indeed.
There is also the village pond across the road from the pub, nice if its warm so you can snuggle up on the bench and feed the ducks. But dont feed them bread, we got told off..lol, get some food from the shop across the road. When you get there you will see what I mean.
Have a great weekend and happy anniversary

Its a lovely site, we had a fab week end there last year, try and have a walk up the hills, they are not too steep with proper paths and really nice scenery, with couple of nice pubs on the way for when you get thirsty

I live a couple of miles from this site. The Plough and Harrow at Gualford is lovely ( though a tad expensive ). Their Aberdeen Angus Beef is gorgeous ! You would have to book though. The Cottage in the Wood is also good, but again pretty pricey and you would need to pre-book. The Malvern Hills Hotel is also nice...more reasonable price I think, right on top of the Malvern Hills ( British Camp ). If you go there you'll see a little Lodge House right on the edge of the road. That's where I lived for 11 years before moving nearer to Malvern Town.

Have been to both The Swan and The Plough and they are both very good. We even had Christmas Lunch at The Swan a few years ago and really enjoyed it. By the way, the butcher just behind the Swan is excellent.
Happy Anniversary.
