Looking for anyone with first hand experience of camping sites in Scarbourgh , we were looking at Cayton Village , we have read the reviews but want to hear from anyone who has camped in this area.
Also would the Montana 6 + Awning be too big for camping&caravan club sites ?
Any advice, info or help would be great.
Thanks
Tommy

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
It has several facilities blocks and you can get to a clifftop path across the road from the site which takes you along to the North Beach.
Personally I haven't been to Cayton Village, but I suspect it will be a bit like the other large sites along that road i.e. big clubhouse with bingo, karaoke etc. Go for that if you want nightlife and the C&C site if you want to relax.
We went to Blue Dolphin at Filey. Its a haven site and can be crowded depending on when you go,i.e school holidays. But there is things to do on site and entertainment at night. It can be a little noisy at night because of people returning from the entertainment venues. Also, its a bit of a 'hike' to the main complex. That said, it didnt cost us that much when we went, it worked out at £6 a night, but I doubt you'll get that deal at this time of year.
Good luck finding somewhere and do your own review when you've come back.

That sounds good , forgot to say in my post that we are not looking
for a place with big clubhouse ,slot machines etc , really just
somewhere good/clean where we have access to Scarbourgh town
Cayton Village, half a mile from Cayton Bay beach. 4 miles to Filey, think less to Scarborough, other way. Good for surfing. Nice quiet camp site, nice pitch areas. Playground for children up to age 12 which is locked after 8 at night. Security barriers on entering.
Large playing field and a floodlit dog walking field.
Toilets etc have a code on door.
No charge for showers. 20p hair dryers.
Small shop on site, very friendly staff. Morrisons 2-3 miles away.
Evening Tommy. If you are keen to go and visit that area then I would highly recommend having a look at Humble Bee. One of my all time favs. I know you and your family love nature+animals. You will certainly get plenty of that at this site. Its a nice quiet site in beautiful surroundings. Filey beach a short drive away too. You can even spend a great day in York as there is lots to see+do with the kids. This part of the country is one of of our favs. Hope this helps.

Do you mean the Cayton Village Touring park, the one thats about half amile down the road from the Park Resorts site?
If you do then yes, we have stayed on it a couple of times, but after the last saga never again. Its a medium sized site with a couple of decentish toilet blocks, BUT in the hight of the season and during bank holidays they open up their large very sloping rally field, and pack units in like sardines. This then makes for a very long walk when you need the loo or the showers, which with all the extra people on site there were long waits for, unless you did what we did and got up at dawn for a shower around 6am.
The problem is, that when you book, they do NOT tell you that the pitch they have allocated you is not on the actual campsite, but through a farm gate behind it, not very funny or acceptable when you have mobility problems anyway, and have informed them of that fact on booking. The rally field does have some EHU to the left hand side perimiters of it, as its often let out for other purposes during the quiet season to groups ect, but booking a pitch with EHU does not immune you from being sent onto this field without any prior notice, and being charged the same rate as the main site for the privalage.
Having said all that the first time we visited in early April a couple of years ago, we had a pitch on the main tourist park for a few days, and that wasnt too bad, plenty of toilets and showers to go around, and no long waits to use them. Its the rally field thats the real big problem when its open.

My parents returned yesterday from Scarborough C&CC site & although it's not bad they said it's huge & a lot of pitches have road noise, they looked at Cayton village & said the pitches looked small but they're in a caravan so it may be different for tents.
