Hi,

Am looking for recommendations of somewhere to stay in Essex or Kent that would be suitable for me and kids of 8 and 4. Hubby is just putting up tent and going so need somewhere child friendly, not too big, not rowdy preallocated EHU, things to do in the area for kids and may be some nice places to cycle to. Sounds like extensive list but just don't want it to turn into a right nightmare.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks

Essex: There's a site in Epping Forest which has heaps of cycle trails. I think it might be a C&CC site.

Kent: NW Kent isn't that great for family riding, loads of decently steep if small hills and very few trails worth doing.

We stayed on the Canterbury C&CC site a couple of years back which was nice and an easy ride in to town, also fairly close to a gently enough ride to Herne Bay as well.

Are your kids girls? Speedgate farm is by Brands Hatch and is a working stables, there are lots of horse tracks through the local woods to ride on and a bridleway that must go somewhere. It's a CS so pretty small, there's a nice cafe there and a big field for ball games.
If you have boys then if check what's on at Brands, small events are cheap and just as exiting for kids.

Sandwich Leisure Park might be suitable, it's a long time since I was there, but recent reviews seem quite good.

I can't remember if there are many cycle paths, but one of the reviews mentions:  "FowleMead Park near Sholden, (about 5 minutes away) you pay £1.00 to park all day and there is a fantastic play area for all kids ages, a bmx track area, lots of long and short walks and bike trails, you could spend the day there, so take a pack up."

Hope this helps.
