We (wife and I) are able to go off for a week or so at short notice whenever the weather looks set to hold for a couple of days(????).  We would like to go to the Lake district for walking.  Can anyone recommend any sites that don't get totally booked up/crowded out around the area?  It doesn't have to be in the middle of the lakes, we use a tent so would like to get the car on the field and as long as it has got decent loos/showers that's all we need.  We aren't CCC members.

amazing site

toilets and showers spotless local pub does some dam fine meals at really reasonable prices, Aurthur site owner is amazing to really helpful, and bonus allows camp fires

their is a small campsite in ulverston cumbria which you would find a good base to holiday from its called priory view
