Hi we are looking at going to Ravenglass Camping site but have noticed on the map a railway line, could any one tell me if you can hear this from the site and if it is used frequently.  We have been caught out with a railway line in the past!!

There is no mention of railway noise being obtrusive in the C&CC reviews but you might want to check the UKCS ones here.

We stayed there a few years ago and can't remember any noise. The mainline train was not that frequent as we got it to Whitehaven and had to make sure we didn't miss the last one back.

I was there in June, you can't hear anything from the railway at all although it's only 5 or 10 minutes' walk away.

Just like the others have said - you can't hear the trains from the site, but as it's only a short walk to the station you can have some good days out on the railway. Also the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway starts from the station and that's definitely worth a trip.
