Does anyone know of any campsites, anywhere in England or Wales south of about York, that both allow campfires and have somewhere either onsite or very close by to launch kayaks/canoes? A lake or still river is fine, no need for exciting water as the kids are only just learning!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
There is a site called Grazing Lands near Maidstone in Kent that allows campfires. All pitches are by the river, and there is a place where you can launch a canoe.
I would recommend you take a porta potti unless you like a long trek to the loos as they are quite a walk up a very steep hill from the pitches. This site is basic, and the toilet facilities are at best basic - 2 loos and a sink - I didn't attempt the shower, although there is one...
Campfires must be in the 1/2 oil drums provided so don't pitch where there isn't one! They supply wood each evening direct to your tent, but at £10 a load i thought it was a bit expensive.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
