I believe and may be wrong, they had a lot of problems with unruly campers last yr. They decided to shut, then changed their minds. But again believe they put the prices up. There are some threads on here about it.

Hi Lava lamp. thanks for the picture, and info. The site did fill up a little at the weekend, but is now almost empty again.
I would imagine when pillaton closed campers booked elsewhere, as we did, but cancelled that when we had a letter to say they had opened again.
The caravan behind us came at bank holiday and said it was full,
We had 2 weeks here last year as we are doing again this year, but the play area is a lot smaller than before, hopefully it will be improved by next years as the grandchildren love it here,
The disabled shower has also been removed, which is a pity.
I think it is £30 on BH, but we are paying £20 with EH
It is £25 pn if you want to fish.

We were regulars there until they whacked the price up to £30 a night, they've dropped it to £20 now but that's still very expensive for the location & facilities, we paid less than that for a 5* site in Devon.
They were a bit hasty putting a match to that fantastic play area - which was the big draw for us as we could pitch around it and be able to watch the children play whilst they thought they were getting a bit of freedom from us. Will be waiting to see if they improve the new area before we book
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Oh dear what a shame that some yobs seem to have wrecked their reputation and caused such turmoil. Hopefully they can restore people's faith in them again and get the business rolling.
whilst appreciating they had problems it did seem very extreme to price themselves out of the market!
We have stayed a few times prior to the closure but am afraid will not be back at the rate now expected in these days of austerity.
Incidentally we usually went on week days when it was quiet but stayed only once on a friday night and it was absolutely horrendous...drunks etc so can appreciate the problems for the owners
