Part of the main beach accepts dogs, which is a nice sandy beach and there are a range of the usual seaside shops, but to be honest and I am not being rude, the place could do with a clean up,lick of paint etc if you know what I mean.
From Bude going Devon way,Hartland Point etc is very nice,I myself was disappointed when I went they 3 years ago.Plenty of other very beautiful places in Devon though
We have just come back from a fortnight's holiday at Budemeadow's camp site, which is about 3 miles 'down the road' from Bude.
I have to admit, we really liked Bude itself - the beach is really nice & the town was really buzzing with tourists. There are some nice shops & two major supermarkets at each end of the town.
There are some lovely walks as well, one being along the canal that runs from Bude to Marhamchurch & also a stunning walk along the coastal path from Bude to Widemouth Bay which again has a lovely beach.
Incidently, Summerleaze beach in Bude & the beach at Widemouth bay have area's where dogs are allowed on, (we have a 2 year old Westie).
A short distance down the coast you also have Tintagel, Port Isaac & Padstow all of which are beautiful places to visit - especially Port Isaac.
Further up the coast there is Clovelly & Bideford - also well worth a visit.
I would also highly recommend the site we stayed on as well - although it does not have a club, it does have a small bar, heated outdoor pool, kids play area & games room & extremely clean toilet/shower facilities & it is only a mile away from the beach at Widemouth Bay.
All in all, we found it to be an extremely nice place!
