Have a look at south lychett manor. I know its near Poole and a short drive to a beach but its a lovley site and has just won AA site of the year for the southern area. We stayed there 8 weeks ago in our new caravan and were very pleased with it.

We had a week in a rented house in June at Lyme Regis - the area was quite good - decent beach and pleasant little town with other things close by.
