Hi there,

We are getting married next year (date completely flexible but was thinking of the august bank holiday) and are looking for somewhere we can hold a humanist ceremony and spend the weekend camping with friends and family...except we're finding marquee hire would eat up quite a lot of our meagre budget (once you've added floor, tables and chairs!). The ideal would be a village hall or, even better, an old barn in Dorset either with grounds we can camp on or a very nearby campsite. (or a basic campsite which happens to have a barn/other large building!) It can be basic, but it would be great if it was a pretty spot. If anyone has any advice or ideas, that would be fantastic.

Many thanks,

Andii Gosling

hi; andii,   are you or do you know anyone who is a member of the two big caravan clubs, as the local club centers for all areas of the country use villiage halls for rallys, try contacting the local center for dorset, might be worth a try.

Hi Ellroy,

That's good advice, thank you! I don't know anyone in the caravan clubs that I can think of however, but will search around.

Last year we went to a scenic (and fun,) 'Dorset' wedding at a Water Lily Farm that had romantic lakes, (and lakeside walks) ' a Monet' style bridge, and an archway, (think it was Willow) from which the bride and her Father made their grand entry.

The ceremony was held outside under a Wooden Gazebo with ducks waddling pass. It also had a drinks licence and is close to many coastal campsites in that same area. The photos came out fabulous especially the one's on the 'Monet' bridge, with the water reflexions. All for £600.

Hi Andii,

We're just on the edge of the Somerset/Dorset border - don't know if we can be of assistance?

We have a separate function room & skittle alley at the rear of our pub which leads onto the campsite. We've had several wedding receptions at the site with & without marquees. If we can help please feel free to give us a call to discuss.

Regards

Wayne.

Hi Coastwalkers,

That sounds like a really great place, do you remember what it was called?

Bagwell farm, has a large field for rallys, which might even have some EHU's, This Campsite is close to the Water Gardens.
