I have been asked to wear wristbands (waterproof paper ones) at a campsite because the nearest village was having an arts festival with many of people taking part staying at our campsite. Because it was so busy it was hard to keep a track of who was staying or who wasn't, and so we had a different colour for each day. We had to go to reception each morning and collect that days colour. I quite liked them, by the end of day three I had quite a colourful collection!

Never heard of anthiong like this for an ordinary camping/caravan park, although we have been given wristbands for swimming pools, especially if there is a time limit (where a certain colour is expected to leave the pool at a certain time).

Right, The camping was in Spain- Sanguli which is in Salou, which has been a regular stop for us for over 10 years. The problem is that its basically clamped on to you- so wet when you wash dished, wet when you take a shower, wet when you swim. Didn't dry out fast. I have enough to do everyday without bothering with this- I go on vacation to have fun and reduce stress and limitations of any sort.
I argued that I can't take it off at night, and it annoyed me- hell, I have to make love to my wife with us both wearing these stupid wristbands?
Those of you who suggested it was to keep people out were correct. Problem, is that they don't allow it to be removed so you don't give it to someone else to enter with. No trust factor with these folks. They told me- "someone may share it with a friend and we lose money."
Also, we stayed there as long as 40 days before. I have to maintain these things, throughout the 40 days. Its annoying.
Sad to say it, but we're probably skipping it until they find another means of security. Was a great place for 10 years, other problems have arisen as well- watched a worker in the childrens club kick a 6 year old in the back of the knee and sent her to the ground screaming and crying- when we complained, they did nothing- said in Spain, it was "normal" because he was only playing with her...
BTW, we live in Spain for 9 month of the year as a minimum because of the wifes job.

Big events often have this sort of thing as well as holidays abroad. However, most i think are either plastic or a coated paper so that it isnt annoying.
We were given these last year however we only needed them to get into the pool or inside bar/restaurant and the were happy for us to keep them in the bag and just show for entrance which I have no problem with :-)
Never been given wristbands, but have been given a swipe card in the past which was printed with our name and pitch number on it, and had to be carried as ID at all times, it also served as a pass-key to the sites barrier and facilities, and both of us had one.
