I am looking for a cheapish site for 1 night in March to practice pitch the new tent but everywhere I have looked is £20+ a night with electric - which is not too bad but when it is literally to have a practice pitch and a night under canvas it was more than I wanted to.

All we really need is a toilet block and shower but could probably manage without the shower till we got home and it would be for 2 adults so don't need a playpark or anything for DS as he is away with the cadets.

Thanks Mrs Bonce.  South Shields or Marsden do not take tents otherwise that would have been really handy for us - will look at Consett thats only about 30 mins away so okay distance wise.

High Hermitage at Ovingham,would be ideal. Small pleasant site, loads of tent space, no marked pitches,with basic facilities, and doesnt cost too much. Approx. 15 mins from Metro Centre, just off A69.  Great for us after work on a Friday, not too far.

Called at Leekworth few weeks ago and shower block still not complete so has it been finished in last fortnight?, it will be great site, just what we like, basic field with plenty of space, with good clean shower/toilet block, so looking forward to going there.
