Southport air show is very good and the CC site is just along the promenade from where it takes place. You wouldn't even have to leave the site to watch the planes

I have a very temperamental personality - 50% temper and 50% mental
I have flown in there several times, and also make a point of going the day before the actual show when practice is going on, just as good as 'the real thing'!

We have gone to the Weymouth airshow for the last 2 years and camped and West Fleet farm about 4 miles away
The airshow is part of the carnival however this year there is a question mark on the airshow is in doublt due the the no fly zone due to the Olympics with the sailing at Portland

South Lincs DA do a rally for Waddington airshow. A colleague goes most years. The site is close enough to see the show from sitting outside your caravan.
Not strictly an airshow but Woodvale Rally at RAF Woodvale near Southport is well worth a visit. Willowbank caravan site is a short walk from the airfield. If you really want to you can camp on the field.

A great day for all the family including steam traction engines, classic car displays, shows and events. Weekend camping also available
RIAT is the one if you are just doing one show, it is the biggest after all.
Best campsite would be this one http://www.airshowcamping.co.uk/ right on the airbase perimeter and most importantly very close to one of the entrance gates for show days unlike others that are nowhere near as close or so well organised.
I have been the last three years and always good but book soon as it fills up quick.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
