I am looking to book hillhead Brixham in August, never been there before, it has very good reviews but I wanted to know if anyone else has been there and are the picthes sloping.

No pitches aren't really sloping. The site is sloping in parts but the majority of the pitches are level. Huge hardstanding pitches, especially towards the top of the park. Great views. Some pitches require a bit more manouvre to get into, but nothing too challenging.
Very nice site, it's just down the road from us - so we visit very often for a short weekend break.
Two toilet blocks, both immaculate. The pub/restaurant is very reasonable and excellent food. Would not hesitate to recommend to others, you will see when you get there why it's one of the CC's top sites.
all the pitches are flat even on the sloping parts,im sure when i was there the wardens would place your van on site for you.
as above the best pitches are at the top with some having great views. there is a bus stop outside te entrance to take you into brixham. stayed for to weeks and had a great time.
the problem with this site as with all CC sites you can not choose and book your pitch in advance. if you could i would go there more often .
The only way you would get a booking now is to put your name on a list for a cancelation.

We had a hard standing pitch at the end of a dead end. We had no views and where 2 caravans had positioned themselves opposite each other back to peg we could not tow our van through the gap as it was so tight (Everyone else had gone sideways on ). Someone told us to get it through using our Motor mover which we very carefully managed. We counted ourselves lucky as the grass pitches opposite got totally waterlogged when it rained. One family went home as there were no other pitches available. We went in August and the traffic getting around the area was awful.Yes, facilities typical CC standards so no complaints there, but i'm not in a hurry to go back.
We loved this site. It has a good dog walking area which is fenced in and a great play area for kids which includes a wooden fort. It also has the swimming pool. According to the website there is a new play area for 2012.
All this comes at a cost though which for 2 adults and 2 children is £41.85 a night without WIFI charges. There is a video on the cc website which pretty much shows it all. It is a great site.
Having just returned from hillhead I would make the following comments
The site is immaculate.
The bar and food is to be recommended.
The wardens are always there if you need them and very approachable.
It's in a great location to explore the area
The hard standing pitches are flat, grab the first free one you come across.
A lot of the pitches are well protected by hedges.
The children's play area, dog walking area and play field are very good.
The pool looked great, although in the recent inclement weather we didn't try it.
It is very easy to get to, just off the main road.
However :
Some of the pitches are very tight, to the extent that we could not pitch our porch awning properly, we were not alone in this.
Grass pitches do slope, some by a lot. Where we were pitched, levellers, chocks and blocks were in abundance.
Getting on some of the pitches will require a phd in manoeuvring unless you have a mover, however the wardens will move you onto a pitch if you ask. On arrival we were warned "as we don't want you to burn your clutch out !"
The cul de sacs are there to catch out unwary caravaners proceed with caution !
There does not appear to be any restriction on parking two cars on the pitches (albeit for an additional fee), this also causes problems with space on some of the pitches.
It is an expensive site >50% more than we will be paying for cornwall in August. We along with some others we talked to also thought that it was expensive and not worth the extra over other Caravan Sites which are equally as good albeit without the bar and pool.
Would we go back again , to be quite honest probably not
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
