Hi we used to do them and always upgraded for a small fee!!! yes i believe you get the worst vans on site if not!! However i have never had a prob with cleanliness!!!
have had a few sun holidays not had a truly awful one, but the last one the caarvan wasn't the nicest.
Funny thing was we did a daily mail one to the same site in July and the van was fab, so we was mega excited on arrival in Oct. Was a big let down. But like i said the van was ok, but as we only slept in it so we survived, esp as it was only fri - mon break.

Dont go to haven devon cliffs. I took sun deal break and the van was shocking and dirty. We only paid £50 so put it down to experiance. The poor family.next to us paid £550 and had a van just as bad. Went to a park resorts site at hearne bay the next time And had a really nice van.
We did a few, the only time we got a poor caravan we complained and they moved us to a much nicer one. Have found now though that by the time you add on the entertainment passes and gas/elec you can probably book a break direct with Haven for about the same price.

Aug/Sept - Leekworth
I have stayed at a few Haven sites, as I thought they would be a good option while the children were very young. Although I didnt use the Sun holidays, instead booking direct with Haven, I found the standard of the vans varied a great deal. Although they had been cleaned I had problems with the toilet smelling so badly of urine that we put a draught excluder at the bottom of the door to try and reduce the stench throughout the van. Also had a duvet that reeked of cheesey feet!!!
This is why we now camp, at least everything belongs to us plus its cheaper. I guess if you are only paying around £50 for a stay its not too bad, but I wouldnt pay more.

Hi, We go on sun holidays every year and have never had a problem, weve never paid for an upgrade but have never had a standard caravan. At devon cliffs 5 years ago we were given a brand new caravan, double glazed, patio doors, balcony etc etc, we dont get the linen pack as my wife went to asda and bought 2 single and 1 double set for less than what they charge and its lasted many trips. we have just this afternoon got back from presthaven sands and again we were given an upgraded caravan which was privately owned. we have never had a problem with any of the parks.
We've had 4 sun holidays now, and they have all been really good holidays. Devon Cliffs we got a nice caravan, Looe Bay was the best caravan we ever got, it was brand new and massive!! But just come back from Woolacombe bay holiday park and the caravan was basic and old but ok to use as a base. We never get the linen, when the confirmation comes, ring them up and ask them to take it off unless you want it but it costs around £17. Also we only have 3 in our family and although you to pay for a min of 4 people for accomodation, you don't have to pay for 4 entertainment passes so we always get them to take off one pass, this makes it a lot cheaper. The main thing is if you think of the caravan as a base then anything else is a bonus but a van should be habitable so if you get mould and dirt or things arn't livable then complain. I always think that these companies want you to come back and they want you back at full price so they should be aiming to impress. Personally, I will be sticking with Haven or Park Dean holiday parks as these seem to have more up to date accomodation.
Another tip of which we have yet to try is to get someone to save tokens for you or book your hol online then book another hol by post using the same vouchers, try to go for parks close by and book one 3 night and one 4 night so dates are concurrent then you will get a two centre holiday for 1 week.
