Ideas/recommendations wanted please - we might stay in the same place for 2 weeks or do a 2 centre holiday. Here's our wishlist (we're in a tent and are C&CC members):
- Small, quiet site (adult only or no noise after 10pm policy enforced would be good)
- Allows dogs with dog walk on site or walks for evening 'duties' very close
- Allows fires/firepits would be good
- Spacious pitches ideally with some landscaping in beween
- Good area for walking (we're from Bath area but as we have 2 weeks are pretty open to where we go)
- Flat site/good drainage - we loved the all weather pitches at Fforest fields
- EHU, showers and toilets
- Wifi (not essential but nice to look up nearby walks and pubs)
- Good weather - (if only that was guaranteed but we would like somewhere which isn't renowned for rain/wet weather)
- Somewhere that doesn't make you pay up front - don't mind paying a deposit then the rest on arrival if site meets expectations
- Somewhere that lets you choose your own pitch would be nice (have pre-booked pitch before only to turn up and find that the grass was in a real state due to popularity of that pitch and it's overuse)
Have been to Fforest Fields which we loved, Warcombe Farm in North Devon which was OK (great dog walk) but a bit too large and too many rules for us. Home Farm at Blue Anchor bit too open and windy and queues for loos/showers. We're off to Lowtrow Cross for Jubilee week which looks like it's going to be great for us.
Yes I know we sound really fussy

Thanks Ratty but it takes ages to search when you don't really know/care about the region you go to. You then have to look through the reviews of each site in the results to see if it's good/recommended or not hence why I was really looking for personal recommendations from UK Campsite experts rather than the search.
Your search is really useful if you want a site in a specific area and the basic criteria likes allows pets, has showers, EHU etc. but there's a lot of things we're looking for that you can't search on.
Brynawelon meets most of your criteria - we have just spent a week there couldn't have been better.Small quiet and peaceful site, really dog friendly, small enclosed area for dogs to use for the quick wee, lots of lovely places to walk, coastal paths etc. Great beaches that allow dogs easy reach by car. Excellent shower blocks. All weather pitches too. We have seasonally pitched there as it is so lovely. Has WIFI and not too expensive either £10 for a week. Pitches are flat and have plenty of room.

Teenager for sale! Eye rolling, back talking, temper tantrums, and I already know everything attitude included. All sales are final!
Thorney Lakes near Langport is worth a visit. It's not a place I would say to base yourself for 2 weeks but worth a short stay combined with somewhere else if you're heading down this way. Quiet pitches in apple orchard, laid back owner who lets you arrive when you want and leave when you want. Acres of farm fields with mown paths/nature walks around, so plenty of walks without having to leave the site. We have taken our chimnea before and lit a fire in that (with owner's permission) but ask when booking.
Old shower block a bit basic but brand new one being completed by 1st May. One of our favourite sites.
Another that may suit is Exe Valley near Dulverton, adults only, small park and close to Exmoor. Lovely, really beautiful dog walk on site in which you and your dog can walk up alongside the river to the weir. Pub across the road which is dog friendly. (no fires or screened pitches though)
We went to Lowtrow last weekend - very nice too, only 30 minutes from home for us.
Thanks for all the recommendations so far. Thorney lakes may be a bit too close to home as we have already done lots of walks in that area as it's so near (though the site sounds great for a shorter or weekend trip).

Also remember by then school summer holidays will have started up here in Scotland so if you're not going to an adults only site be prepared for kids on site especially as lots head south for the cheaper site fees as schools down south will still be in term.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
