My twins will be starting school in september so i'd like to take them on a weeks holiday during term time whilst I still can. We've decided to go for Haven because I have a disability which means I need to be somewhere where the kids will be entertained.
Normally I wouldn't touch places like this with a barge pole but i'm kind of hoping that going during term time will make it ok. Normally we'd go to Butlins but we can't afford it this time and I want to make use of the caravan.
We live near leeds bradford airport and I'm looking at sites on the yorkshire coast, north wales or blackpool. I'm more of a camping in a field kind of person usually so if anyone can advise which site might be slightly quieter. Also worried that going out of season there won't be any activities on and we'll be wasting our time.

If you want kids entertaining then what you are left with is haven and haven type sites. The whole point of them is that they are busy, so quiet on a haven site is relative.
What is the difference between butlins and haven? Hafan y mor is on the old butlins Pwllheli site. Its a bit quieter now than the butlins heyday but always activities on. Greenacres caravan part is noisier but you get full service pitches.
Park resorts are also a cheap and cheerful alternative to Butlins and you can pay for them using tesco clubcard vouchers I've tried 3 of their sites so far and will advise getting the out of hours number in case you need to report anything during the night ie noise.
Hi I've been to few haven sites Martin mere at blackpool is really good but not exactly quiet out of the yorkshires one maybe reighton sands ad its the smallest and its got a lovely beach for the kids I've been to presthaven sands at north Wales but only in a static and again definatly not quiet

we went to Hafan Y mor last year in October, the only thing that let it down was the touring site, but they have moved it for this year to a new area so should be good.the facilities, especially the pool area are great with a wave machine, and ravine run.nice area too.dont be put off by going out of season,we always go out of season, and it is better for it.we always go to Perran Sands in September.
We camped at Blue Dolphin last year, got a very good deal. There have a lovely new toilet block. The pitches felt a bit small and I imagine it gets very busy in high season but overall we had a nice time.

I agree, Blue Dolphin is great out of the main holiday season. Reighton Sands is fine if the weather is good but the campsite is very exposed and the cliff edge is not fenced off so not great for very small kids.
Have you looked at Flower of May at Filey? This is one of our favourites and we have never had an issue with noise.
A friend has just been to 3 Haven sites. Out of Blue Dolphin / Reighton Sands / Golden Sands he preferred Blue Dolphin for the site and level of facilities.
We used Flower of May when our children were young and they loved it.
We were at Reighton sands for a week at easter, also went to primrose valley for a week last october and going to Lakeland in May. Haven is not our cup of tea either but our boys love it (age 4, 9 & 11) and for us caravaning is all about them. Last trip to Reighton we didn't bother going to the show bar. Children were kept busy doing various activitys ie: Archery, target shooting, water walkers, aqua jets etc. Lovely beach at Reighton for the kids with direct access from sight. Also boys loved the new Lazy river pool!
So i think between swimming, walks, beach, play area your twins will definately be entertained! Reighton sands or Primrose gets my vote. Been to both about a dozen times and never had a problem.
Incidently i live by Leeds / Bradford airport too! It will take just under 2 hours towing your caravan from here to Filey so not to long a journey.
I know it's not camping but it may be cheaper to stay in a caravan on Haven and park resorts. Google break free holidays, you can get a 4 day holiday for just £15 pp.

I'd personally reccomend Haven Greenacres in Porthmadog and Park Resorts Ty Mawr in Towyn, North Wales. Both great sites for families and all the facilities are in nice easy walking distance of the touring pitches.
Steer clear of Presthaven Sands in Prestatyn. The facilities are great but theyre about half hour walk away from the touring caravan pitches.
Another vote for blue dolphin here, we have had some really cheap breaks there, we also found it nicer because the touring site is away from the statics, although if your disabled I should warn you that it is a slight uphill walk to the main complex, it's not a great trek or big hill, but thought I'd mention it anyway - there's a big ball pit climbing frame centre that's free (its not huge) that my younger ones love, plus its nice & central for the other east coast resorts, hope that helps.
