Just booked our first camp of the year for next weekend. The weather looks good so we thought we would book the Delamere Forest Camping & Caravan Club site, using our free membership from Camping magazine.
Has anyone been before and can recommend a decent pub close by for food in the evening that we can take our dog.
The site looks lovely and we can`t wait, lots of walks and fresh air hopefully
Thanks

Sorry, can't help you with that, we stayed at Fishpool Farm, There is a lovely pub there that does excellent food, but noticed on the site today it's currently closed for renovation!!
Fishpool was my next choice if the other site was full . The site details for the Delamere Forest site says there are some good pubs that do food nearby so I will have to check them out on the net. Was hoping to get some first hand info off the campers on here, better than relying on the pubs own websites

Theres a place nearby called the Cabbage, or Cabbage Hall, never been in though, looks a bit posh!! (probably expensive too!!)
We ended up one night at the Toby Carvery near ASDA!! That was OK. We tend to eat on site mostly, just stuff like nice bread, cheese, crisps, olives.....no cooking, very little washing up!!!

Cannot help with the pub aspect but love Deleamere Forest site. We go about 4 times a year for long weekends. Wardens lovely. Straight from the site into the forest with miles of walks. Facilites spotless.
Delamere is a nice site with friendly managers and I would recommend The Fishpools Inn as well. The food is lovely and not too expensive. Personally Cabbage Hall has gone very upmarket and expensive and I would give it a miss. From Delamere go back to the Chester Road and straight over. The Fishpools is at the next Xroads. I am not sure about taking the dog in though. Just ask the Managers at the site. They have been there a few years and will know where is best in the area. I am sure you will enjoy it
Thanks for everyones replies, sounds like we will have a great stay no matter where we end up, will give the Fishpools Inn a try if they have a beer garden for the dog

ive not camped there but i live about 15 mins away and we often go there for family walks, i love it, and when i ask my 4.5 year old what he wants to do at the wkends delemere is usually top of the list
enjoy
I live close to the site and there are a number of pubs and restaurants nearby, although not having a dog I'm not sure where accepts them. The Fishpool is currently nothing more than a shell as it is being rebuilt. In Sandiway there is The Blue Cap (Chef & Brewer) which is well regarded. Also in that village is The White Barn (Hungry Horse) which has seen better days. The Vale Royal Abbey Arms is nearby which is OK as is The Shrewsbury Arms. However going a little further afield The Fox & Barrel and The Alvanely Arms both in Cotebrook are very good. Picking up on a couple of place mentioned by other poster - Cabbage Hall is now part of a chain called Pesto which serves "Italian tapas" and I think the Toby carvery mentioned is perhaps the Crown Carvery in Winsford which at less than £4/head is certainly good value. All in all plenty to choose from!

Wow, thanks Philip, you have given us lots to think about, I will let everyone know where we end up after the weekend, just in case anyone else wants to know. Really looking forward to it now. Just had the tent up in the back garden to make sure it is all ok and it is, so roll on friday !!!

The carriers in hatchmere's not bad (you could walk there from the site. Then you've got the tigers head in norley and the red bull and the horseshoe in Kingsley. These would all be a good walk away. The visitors centre does food etc in the day time which is a five minute walk from the site and there's a cafe in the old station building, also right next to the site. I grew very close to delamere ans still live nearby.
Thanks for all the suggestions, we ended up in a small pub called The Forset View Inn at Oakmere. The food was lovely and the service was very friendly. Beer garden was very sunny but a little bit scruffy although we had a great couple of hours They had chickens, sheep and a pig all housed in the beer garden
