Just returned from a week in bakewell where my daughter made loads of friends whilst it was dry and she could play out however once the rain came we were trapped in the unit and she was bored as she had no one to play with. I was wondering if there were sites with indoor play areas where she could meet other children to play with? Alternatively is this why parents go on rallies to avoid this problem?

Thanks all

We've just returned from a campsite in Frodsham nr Chester called lady Heyes. They are attached to a little craft village, and one of the units is an indoor play centre, I think it cost £3.80. They also have a club house, it's advertised as having a free child's play area too. unfortunately our kids werent able to take advantage of either, our grumpy dog couldn't be left alone

No suggestions of sites with indoor play areas... but check out this website for family days out, it is searchable by indoor/outdoor activities as well as area/ age etc - so good for finding things to do when the weather turns.

Appreciate things like that can be expensive, so I'd personally just make sure you have waterproofs and wellies and get out and about in the rain!

Ah - also The Quiet Site in the Lakes (nr Ullswater) has an on-site bar in an old barn. There is a young children's playroom adjacent to the bar with playhouse and soft play centre and a TV room and children's games room with table football, table tennis etc... May suit your requirements?

We camped near Bakewell over Jubilee weekend the weather was so awful on the Sunday we came home, id just had enough of a soaking wet dog in the tent and the wet dash to the toilet block!

It almost put me off camping! but now im home ive sort of forgotten how grim i found it and im looking to go away again!

For a fair weather camper i ALWAYS seem to get wet!
