Hi, thanks but I already checked the sitefinder and I'm pretty sure this isnt the right site - I'm after the campsite on the showground itself?...hoping that someone on here has stayed there?!

Im assuming you mean the Three Counties Showground in Malvern.

We have stayed there, having been a few times to the caravan show that is held in October. The show has always been in the exibit halls with the camping area stretching back over the grassed area. So im not sure if the arrangement will be the same for the Three Counties show this weekend, as I would anticipate the show actually being on the grass fields where we usually camp.

We have always had good experiences of staying at the showground but we do take our caravan so obviously do have a few more "facilities" than a tent.  The pitches are flat but a little uneven underground due to the rough cut grass. Drainage is usually good but with all the wet weather we have been having and due to have this weekend i wouldnt be surprised if it gets a bit muddy especially with all the cars driving around. We always seem to end up right at the back by the dog walking field where there is a large toilet and shower block. Its best described as clean and basic, but perfectly acceptable, there may be more toilet blocks scattered about but cant say for sure.

hope this helps, always keen to help another Forester ;)

Sue

We've been to the 3 Counties Showground several years running to the Triumph TR International weekend which is always held in July. We would describe the facilities as very basic but clean. There are brick built toilet and shower blocks and additional shower "caravans". I don't know if the portable showers are always there or if they are brought in by individual event holders.

There are several camping areas and I would assume it depends upon the event you're going to as to which areas will be available to you. As s&gknight said, the camping is nice and level but the grass can be a bit rough. There are drinking water stand pipes dotted about and there are elsan disposal points for your portaloo. Again, these are certainly not the best facilities I have seen, but are adequate. One or two large dish washing up sinks are available in the toilet/shower blocks which means either the girls or the chaps have to wash up on their own!

The showground is in a beautiful spot at the foot of the Malvern Hills. You can sit out in the evenings watching the street lights and houses light up on the hills as it gets dark. It really does look pretty.

Beware of the weather! You can be sitting in glorious sunshine one minute, then suddenly big clouds will appear from behind those hills and it is lashing down with rain. I don't think we've had a single year without a sudden downpour so don't forget your umbrella. The campsite copes fairly well with wet weather although it certainly flooded in 2007, but that was exceptional.

There are excellent shopping facilities (inc Waitrose and Somerfield) and a public swimming pool in Great Malvern. Closer to the showground, there is a smaller town (Village?) called Barnards Green with a smaller supermarket, cheap booze shop and a fantastic cheese shop.

We love this area and also regularly stay at Blackmore C&CC club site in Hanley Swan just up the road from the 3 Counties Showground.

I am very fussy about facilities and have no problem with the showground.

Hope you have a good time.

Jackie

Well I'm back and I've only just noticed these replies!

It turned out we were directed to an area opposite the showground which was wooded, rough grass and very boggy, which made things interesting to say the least!....most caravans were parked partially on the tracks to avoid sinking I think! we managed to find a dry spot under a large tree for our tents :) The only facilities were a small set of portaloos...definately no 'blocks' of any kind...so I'm guessing this is different to whats described above - maybe they have a different set up for certain shows?!

Anyway...we still had a fab time despite the rain and mud! Thanks for all your replies and a big Hello to all the Foresters :)
