Im wanting to take my children away for a few days at the end of the month but worried about the amount of gales we have been having.  Id like to go somewhere in Cumbria.

Can anyone recommend a nice site that isnt to exposed.  We would love there to be a playground for the children, anything else would be a bonus.

(fancy castlerigg or fisherground .if anyone knows what these are like it would be very helpful)

Thanks

Windermere c & c site, sheltered, and good kids areas. If you can get up there the Eskdale c & c site is quite sheltered and offers plenty for the kids to do. Both may be wet though. You could also look at Coniston hall, but this will be wet. There is a site in Hawkshead as well, fairly sheltered but gets busy and damp, although we had a look over half term and it seemed ok. Would not recommended c & c site at Penrith. The National trust site at Wray castle is a good one as well.

My favourite has to be Eskdale, near the steam railway, the coast, loads of walks and on site facilities are good as well.
