Personally as a fulltime camper using a motorhome I would say it's definately worthwhile being a member , it opens up a vast array of sites not just the C&CC main sites but all the certificated sites these are the small sites for 5 caravans and tents, which is what we mainly use, these are normally available for around a tenner a night sometimes less, in fact I'am on one now in Norfolk that charges £10 it also has a shower / toilet and free to use washing machine, not only that but you get a decent members pack with site guides etc and a monthly magazine all for £40 per year
------------- here today , where tomorrow?
yet another full timer,
I have been a C&CC member since 2009, tenter here, and I go camping about 4-5 times a year, minimum 4 nights at a time, so it is worth to be a member for me even if I don't stay at their sites all the time.
I know what to expect when I stay at one of their club sites, and have yet to be disappointed.

Certificated Sites are privately owned/managed and may have very limited facilities, but will always have a drinking water supply and chemical toilet disposal facilities.
Yes, I think it's worth joining for CSs (and Temporary Holiday Sites!) and the membership means you can use any kind of camping unit.
I know a lot of people don't really like their sites and find their membership a waste of time but I really like it. Love the sites and the CS's that membership opens up.
I camp at C&CC sites more often then not as I like how they are run and their pricing structure suits me as they don't charge for under 6's so I generally only have one adult plus my EHU (if I choose to camp with it)
I have a caravan as well but only use my tent on C&CC sites
On balance I would say yes it is worth joining. The certified sites are very good value (although many of them you seem to be able to stay at without being a member). However, not overwhelmed with the few club sites we have stayed at - tend to be expensive, small pitch sizes and variable wardens from super friendly to a little snooty. Toilet facilities are normally fine but we feel for our family they tend to be a little fussy and rule bound. We have been members for 2 years now and we will probably join next year - I do like the magazine each month. Hope this helps!
CSs are privately owned and are licenced by the C&CC under the rather obscure and arcane caravan licening laws. They can take up to 5 caravans/motorhomes and also some tents in addition - under the law the Club is licencing the site for use by its members only (so sites that allow non members to camp could be in danger of being struck off).
Club Sites are much larger with usually more facilities and are owned or managed directly by the Club, or privately owned but managed as part of the Club site network under a franchise scheme. Almost all take non members as well as members, but non members pay a bit more.
There is no different class of membership for tents compared with caravans/motorhomes - you just join as a member and can camp in whatever you want. Some tenters have suggested on the Forum that they feel a bit hard done by on Club sites but I can't comment as we haven't camped in a tent for over 20 years, but certainly back then we didn't feel it was a problem on Club sites - perhaps things have changed.
Definately worth joining as you can't go to the Certified Sites like Solway View without being a member. You also get a monthly magazine which is quite a good read. All the sites we've used have been really good tho do agree with Paul about snootiness sometimes!
No difference for tents, it just means that the sites take tents and vans. Our friends have a caravan and quite often we've been able to pitch right beside them.
I have now joined I really want to go to Solway View again.... Yes £40 extra to go seems alot but it so lovely as are the owners and the surrounding area. With kids growing up and possibly not coming with us in next few years we can now go to quieter sites - (bet my pesky daughters want to come now as Solway was a fav)
------------- I'm working class, I do what I have to do, to get by.
I enquired about an ehu tent pitch at Solway View a couple of months ago and they only had certain availibitly for August so I didn't book - it wasn't mentioned about being a C & CC member....

*October half term 6 nights - Beech Croft Farm, Buxton
have to say ive joined c&cc after been a member of cc member for many years ive stopped at two cs sites didnt like either ive got three more booked one of which is a c&cc site hope there better than the last two or i will not be renewing next year
We like the C&CC sites. They do have rules about noise and ball games etc but if you want a quieter holiday this works. As a teacher the last thing I want on my hols is to be camped in the middle of a playground!! The sites we have used have all been clean, well laid out and with all facilities we need. They will not do for anyone who is looking for large sites with club type facilities.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
