If you've been camping recently, can you let me know what the ground was like please.

We haven't got around to camping so far this year, so are thinking about going in the next few days but want to be prepared - our garden is fine but two miles up the road the field is waterlogged - basically we need to know whether to prepare ourselves for the worst!!

Hi i think you have answered your own question here dry on your garden but wet 2 miles away
So it all depends where you are going if you could let us know where you are thinking of camping then someone on the forum might just have been to the same site of late and maybe help you out or why not phone the owners of the site you are going to and ask them about the conditions.
Linda

Thanks for your quick replies.  Well we're actually thinking about going to Oxfordshire ourselves - Hardwicke Parks near Standlake, Witney.

Why not give the campsite a call or email and ask them what their ground is like? They should be able to tell you exactly what to expect.

Think as ratty says you would be best to phone the site themselves. You can have 2 sites in one town and the ground could be as different as chalk and cheese.

I would agree with others that you would be best to call the park owners to find out what the site is like. We are in an old sand quarry so the site is very well drained but I know others in the area with problems. Each site will be different - and it could be that on a site where the ground is really soft they have made other provisions or can allocate a pitch that isn't quite as soft.
