I was pleased with myself, when I needed to vacate the pitch by 11am.
I had everything packed by 10.30. Drove the car to the shower block, Showered, clean clothes, ready for the drive back.
in between packing, Had breakfast, cups of tea and crumpets.. I have to admit though. I gave my OH majority of the equiptment to take home, the night before. that made such a big difference. plus DS went home with his dad. 1 less person to worry about.

I would have needed more than a few 'free drinks ' !
When I get to the camp site I get the tent up and get sorted a.s.a.p then get out with the dogs . Usually an hour max
What if the weather had been closing in ? Hardly fair if the new campers have to wait , then get pitched in bad weather
The site wardens should have helped ; by chucking everything into their cars and trailer .
The night before I leave I pack away all non essential for the morning after the night before . Mind you , I don't take that much stuff now ; makes it a lot easier when you get home
well we had a lot of equipement and a 12 noon deadline...so we took down 1 tent and the utility tent the day before and all slept in the one tent...It still took us approx 3 hours to put the remaining tent down and re pack cars and trailers with one cuppa and no breakfast ...the new occupants where on site at 7.30 am !! and had to wait untill 11.30 am (30 mins early) before they could get on ...we left them to it and went off for breakfast before catching the ferry home...if we hadnt have taken one down the day before I think we might have broken that record.......

Now it's just me and the dog I can be done in about 1.5 hours if need be - but I don't like leaving early and getting home before evening. Unless I'm camping a long way away I like to leave late afternoon so if it's only a few quid to stay on, I pay it. Although it isn't always possible if the pitch is re-booked.
I prefer sites where you don't have to rush off on a Sunday, I feel it wastes a day of the weekend and as I probably didn't get there till Friday evening I want to make the most of Sunday.
I must confess though that it did once take me about 9 hours to pack up. The problem was it was a very hot sunny day when everything seemed to take longer than it should, we had to keep stopping for drinks and food, and I couldn't get everything back in the car. The holiday had been planned for the caravan but it got written off by a careless driver a couple of weeks before and our nice big car was in being mended.
Determined not to cancel the holiday I bought a tent and managed to squeeze everything inc. two kids and the dog into the hire car.
Somehow it wouldn't all go back in at the end of the week; we started packing up at 9am and finally drove off site about 6pm, having given away a few things to other campers that just wouldn't fit in .
Luckily there was no "departure" time at that site!

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
I much prefer the packing away in the caravan but could still do it quite quickly when we camped.
Last year in France, one family took all day to take down their tent and erect some small ones. I thought they needed a really early getaway, but we still managed to pack up, take the dog the vets and leave before them the next morning! They had spent a whole day of their holiday packing!
------------- Are you sure you've read the instructions?
I'm afraid I have no time for people who over run their booked time. If the check out time is 12 noon and you know it takes 4 hours to pack, then you need to be up by 8.
Otherwise you are stealing, from the site, and from the next tenants of your pitch if they can come on at 12.

If I want to pack slowly, which I often do, I book an extra night but leave early evening instead of spending the night as it stops the mad rush and usually avoids traffic xx
I would never do it in someone else's time slot!
