Im new to caravaning and have just returned from our first successful weekend away at haven. We have Stayed in statics there before but it was our first time with a tourer. I'm looking for a similar campsite with entertainment for the kids and a disco bar. Does anybody have any suggestions? We will probably be looking to go to north west England in october.
Thanks :)

You could try another Haven site but why not try something a bit different this time. You'll be surprised by the kids ability to entertain themselves and if you don't like it you can always go back to "Haven style" camping/caravanning next time.
Thanks for the suggestions. It's not so much the day that I'm concerned about, dave's mate, it's the evening. I like how the kids are entertained with the disco and show and can run around while my hubby and I can relax and have a drink without them getting bored. I've looked at a couple of campsites but they all seem to say 'quiet bar' which I don't think will suit my 2 and 7 year old.

I was also going to say Haven, Park and Parkdean but was beaten to it

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again
We've just been here http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3518 decent enough site with club (didn't have time for so cant comment) pool which was good provided beach balls ect cafe, amusements, fish and chips, shop, hair dressers, laudrette, good kids park all on site and half the price of Haven.
We use Haven sites alot out of season when its cheaper, our favourite Haven sites for touring are:-
Lakeland - Grange over Sands (new premier hardstanding pitches)
Hafan Ye Mor - Phwelli (new hardstanding pitches)
Marton Mere - Blackpool - New euro pitches
Greenacres - Porthmadog (Touring area needs upgrading) but excellent location.
We have been using Haven sites since 2006 and seen a huge investment on the touring pitches (they needed it!) the sites mentioned above all have excellent faciltites for families as we have 2 girls aged 7&8. If you book in Winter for the year after you get them alot cheaper, and once youve been on 3 you automatically become a member of the freedom trail club which then gives you 10% off the price online, it deducts it at the end when your about to pay! At the moment there 50% off for Easter pitches next year, weve booked onto Hafan Ye mor for 5 nights for a fantastic £112 for 4 of us! You can also book with just £25 deposit then pay the balance before you go so its worth going online and finding the cheapest weekends, thats what I do, they are usually mega expensive for BH so we tend to avoid them at peak season, but Easter is a good time for next year. They are not everyones cup of tea but we like to do a couple a year, we caravan all year round and stay on lots of different sites from large commercial sites to very small CC CLs with just 5 vans, we try to get them as cheap as poss for weekends as we go away so much! Our favourite site is Holgates at Silverdale but its expensive at £40 a night for 4 of us!
Hope this is some hlep to you, Marton Mere is in the North West near Blackpool, its got lots to do on site and the illuminations are on in October, its probably expensive though, I personally prefer Lakeland and theyv just built 25 new euro hardstanding all service pitches.
We may bump into you one weekend?

------------- 2026
Various weekends, weather and time permitting
April - Yorkshire and Yorkshire
June - Wiltshire and Oxfordshire
Autumn - North and Scotland
Hi Gail
Fantastic,we went to Greenacres in June for the jubilee break and we had a look at Hafan ye mor when we were there as we heard the touring area was all new. Our girls loved it and wanted to stay there but it was full. It used to be Butlins but has had a total revamp and theres loads to do. When I priced it up in June for Easter 2013 it was around £240 for 5 nights, I always go on and have a look at the prices as they change all the time. We are going to Lakeland 14th Sept and paid £27 for 3 nights on a new pitch!! There are bargains out there you just have to be on the ball which I am!! The pitches are close together which they tend to be on Haven sites, but, when the weather is bad they are fab for the kids as theres loads to do inside, thats why we stick to them in colder months. I tend to book alot of my Haven weekends around January time, we go to Marton Mere the first weekend it opens in March and have done for the last few years, thats decent enough for the money, and we always have a weekend at Lakeland as its fab.
Anyway make sure you come and see us we can have a chat and a glass of wine or two!!
Hi,
Totally agree with Gail, Lakeland is Fab! The new pitches are so much better, Haven is realising that us campers need better facilities as well and the touring areas on their parks have got so much better in the last couple of years!
Marton Mere is also good, but having a 2 year old myself, I would definitely recommend Lakeland, it's still an all singing all dancing park, but small enough to contain a 2 year old at the same time, the outdoor park is attached to the mash & barrel pub and is all fenced in so you can sit on the decking & enjoy your drink while the kids play in safety. Bliss :)
