I've read the reviews.... some good, some bad and some downright scary going back for the last 4 years.
Does anyone know what the place is like now, as it appears to have gained a bit of a reputation.
We're looking to come up Southport way in half term and I just wondered if this was going to be a disaster if we stayed there? We have 3 kids 7, 12 & 14.
I dont want the children kidnapping or mugged and I dont really want my new pride and joy catching fire or having its wheels nicked - that said I'm not too fussy if its a bit scruffy and tired - my favourite local site is just like that, as long as we can get a wash and have a sleep.
Any views on this or anywhere else local thats open in Feb?
Thanks in advance
Jim

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Hi,we live not far from this site and certainly would not recommend it.A lot of shady people live in tourers on this site and caravans have been known to go missing. Besides the obvious caravan club site, there is a good caravan and camping club c.s. at the marine lake.I Would use either of these.
Apart from the two 'club' sites mentioned by Twohoots, there is also 'Willowbank' in nearby Ainsdale. We've had friends stay there and say they would always go back.
Have to say I haven't heard anything good about Leisure Lakes.
I can recommend two very good sites for Southport, one is C&CC Cs site which is on the sea front of Southport, its called Waterside Lodge, everything is within walking distance and theres a small shower block on site, its approx £17 pnt and you have to be a member of the C&CC. The other one is one we are going to on 2nd Jan, its called Shaw Hall caravan Park its at Scarisbrick which is about 10miles from Southport. It has a good kids park, good dog walks along the canal, a really nice bar/club venue with entertainment on at weekends, the pitches are all service with astro turf for the awning and they are hardstanding, prices very reasonable too.
Dont book Riverside or Leisure Lakes, they are horrible sites, im not going to say too much just in case I offend but read my reviews for both sites??
Forgot to say we are booked onto Waterside Lodge Feb HT already with some friends we are there from 15/2 for 2nts, come and say hello if you manage to book on! Theres nothing on site, but its a great location for Southport. Gets booked up quickly for the year!!
I've emailed Shaw Hall - unfortunately I'm in the wrong Club for Waterside Lodge :-(
So lets hope Shaw Hall come up trumps.
Happy Christmas all...... would have loved to do a Christmas in the Sprite - but I met very firm resistance from SWMBO and the dogs, and the kids!!! Something about turkey not fitting in the oven....... :-(
From what I have heard, Willowbank is first class.
Abbey Farm in Ormskirk used to get good reveiews - not read any recently.
From what I have read, Riverside has really pulled it's socks up - used to be very tent unfriendly, but now seems to be getting good reviews.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
