Hi we stayed on the IOW last year and had a great time. Two of the best sites we stayed on (no club house, no fuss) were Thorncross (no toilets and showers but great site) and Roebeck (great site, camp where you want).

I don't understand some sites with there pitch sizes, just received a brochure from park resorts, who we have stayed with in static caravans in the past, and many of the pitches are 6x6 and 7x7 which is quite small, we have a Hi Gear voyager 6 and the would fill the pitch, leaving nowhere for the car!
We don't need the entertainments offered by these sites as the children play with their new friends etc, now, but do need toilets!
One thing I can't get my head around it the silly money to get across the Solent, £100 on wightlink for a return.
Hi Carpenters Farm has lots of room, we stayed on an electric pitch in our Montana 6 with an extension on the front. The pitches facing the play area have loads of room in front of them and are only marked width ways, if you don't need electric I think you can pitch where you want. It's a friendly park with really nice owners, smallish play area in middle of field, showers etc. no pool or entertainment but very child friendly, near lovely beach but off quite a busy road which we never tried to walk along. Near big Tesco for supplies and Bembridge if you prefer smaller local shops and deli's. it is quite a while since we went so best to check up to date reviews, but we liked it and the kids had a great time.

Also have a look at Beaper Farm, a while since we were there with a huge frame tent and we were told to pitch anywhere in the field but to leave the required space between the other tents. Looking on their website it still looks the same for pitching.
Whitefield Forest have big pitches. We have been twice and love this particular site

I got a different price for July-£180 I think it was. Park resorts do an offer of £74ish return if you book with them. I am waiting for their brochure to come.

Oh I see that's with a pitch.... park resorts...I prefer carpenters farm lovely atmosphere..I'll stick to paying for site and ferry separate...in my mind there's a reason they offer things free...anywhere any good woudn't have to entice you there.....

Wightlink take Tesco club card vouchers if you shop with them it is worth saving up vouchers for , we also used them at Amazon World, Dinosaur Isle and The Needles Park also PIzza Express ( I think there's one in Newport) , one year we used them on the foot ferry and for Portsmouth historic Docks for a day out from IOW.
For a day out, park at shackling station, and its 14 quid return on the train over to gun wharf quays on the hovercraft, you the tesco vouchers to get into the spinnaker tower!
The park resorts ferry is 99 at peak periods for people staying in statics, not sure what they are charging if your touring.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
