I have only been to Cofton in winter of 2009 over the New Year, and loved it so much I am planning a return trip later this year.
BTW, Cofton offers 25% discount for UKCS members throughout the year (conditions apply).
Not been to Golden Coast, so I cannot comment.

First thing to take into consideration is one is on the north coast and one the south. The landscapes are totally different with the south a lot flatter and more populated with lots of resorts with all the usual holiday bucket and spade things. The north is much more rugged and there are less beaches' but having said that Woolacombe has a three mile long beach but does not have all the attractions of the torbay area. Cofton is a nice site in a lovely valley whereas Golden coast is a lot flatter and more built up around site. To sum up the north is quieter and more laid back, the south more hectic and busy. I suppose that why I retired here.
we went to cofton in october....it was ok , but been to better sites...pitches in need of TLC...indoor pool lovely, and all the facilities were good...it was just the state of the pitches and smell from the wet mud (which went everywhere) that would put us off from going again...

We go to cofton several times a year last time we went the indoor pool was opening the following week with the weather as it has been last year yes the pitches were abit muddy in places but so was northam farm in burnham by the hardstands what I'm saying is that just about every site in the country was muddy and needed a bit of tlc and I know cofton was putting down stone on the bad areas but as for the mud smelling I havent smelt it and my wife has a very good sense of smell and she's never said anything and believe me she would have gone straight down to reception about i We were going there this week but thank to sone toerag breaking into the car we've had to cancel
Both have a lot of things on site, but it does depend on if you have children and their ages.
Personally if you want clubs etc for children then i would choose Golden Coast, but if thats not what you are going for then i would choose cofton.
Both sites you need to drive to the beaches - but Golden coast does operate a bus service - which also travels around their other parks for you to use the facilities there as well if you want.
Lovely walks from Cofton to the village of Star Cross with good pubs.
Thanks everyone been looking for somewhere for the last week very hard trying to get somewhere that suits everyone....We have 3 children ( 14, 9, 4 )
Will be going for 2 weeks so need things to do if the weather isn't so good hence why we've been looking at these sites not our usual sites i have to admit but need to take the weather into consideration.
Our first choice was Vauxhall at Great Yarmouth but we would need to change our holidays for this site.....
Our main requirements are pool, play park, clean toilets, club (kids don't really do the clubs but like the odd night out) places within walking distance and a beach nearby.
would love if anyone can suggest any others
