I would really appreciate your help in finding a site.

It will be in June for myself, my other half and 2 young kids. I would like to be within striking distance of Snowdonia and also the coast, but can be flexible with location.

The site must:

not have midges (wife hates them and threats to pack in camping)

be nice and quiet (site can be large or small not really bothered)

Take large tents with EHU and have a cheical disposal point

that is all- we take our own shower/toilet/washing up etc so the only facility I need is running water so really not worried about facilities etc.

any ideas appreciated ( I have used search facility and read reviews etc but being pointed in right direction will really help).

Bodnant Caravan Park.

Super site, big pitches with hook-up.

20 mins to Snowdon, 5 minutes to Betws-Y-Coed, 15 minutes to Colwyn Bay.

You could try Conwy Touring park, its near LLandudno but within striking distance of Snowdonia for days out and there is plenty of space and a good childrens play park too, J x

Hendre Mynach in Barmouth. Not stayed there myself (as I live really close to it), but it gets good reviews on here.

(I should be on commission the amount of times I have suggested Hendre Mynach in the last week lol)

thanks- it looks really good and was on my list some time ago but some of the reviews mention midges. They don't bother me but my wife hates them and if we arrive on site and they are present then she wants to go home and it also outs her off camping which I do not want to do. Looking at the reviews I don't think they cause much of an issue. Summer was so wet last year I think this probably effected alot of sites that would usually have been ok.

It looks like a great site though!

You could try Plas Gwyn. It's halfway between Llanberis and Caernarvon. I have booked this one for July. It's about 5 miles from Snowdon.

Snowdonia park brewpub and campsite was really good, it had the steam trains running right through the middle of it which our kids loved. There was a play area in the beer garden behind the pub which was a good enough excuse to keep trying the real ales brewed on site.

Not quite sure about your main requirement of no midges, don't know as I've ever been anywhere without them, there's enough of them in my back garden for starters.
