I'll second that.
we're staying not far away in Ipplepen at the beginning of June and looking forward to showing my Grandson places we used to go when I was young.
We'll be going to Crealy Adventure Park (using clubcard vouchers) which I hope is still as good as when we went several years ago. I'll have to go back to Babbacombe Model village. I just like a day driving across the moors to, there's lots of little villages to stop at. I've been looking on the Internet for places to go, just hoping the weather is going to be good for us. Don't forget the train along the front at Dawlish too, you can walk from Dawlish to Dawlish Warren.
Hope you have a good holiday, I know I'm quite excited, which is unusual for me!
Your right by the railway station. Before Mart could drive we used the train to get to Torquey, Teignmouth.
Friend went to Kents Cavern and enjoyed it.
Paignton is not far either.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
The whole of South Devon is your oyster really - so much to see and do depending on what you like and how long you are here. Just some ideas, but too many to list.
You've got the traditional seaside piers at Teignmouth & Paignton. As mentioned Crealy Adventure Park at Exeter. Kents Cavern & the Model Village near Torquay. Check out if there are any events at Powderham Castle (they sometimes hold jousting, medieval weekends etc). If you like gardens/traditional England then Cockington Country Park down near Torquay might suit - it's a Doomsday Book village, very pretty. Castle Drogo high up in the lovely Teign Valley is further inland if you want to head that way.
A drive away if you have children/adventurous children you have a "Go Ape" in Haldon Forest, along with Segway tours through the forest which is good fun on a nice day.
Further afield you have Brixham and across the ferry from Kingswear to Dartmouth - we often drive down the coast road to Dartmouth for a day out.
The Ship Inn at Cockwood (between Starcross & Dawlish) is a quaint little pub right by the harbour wall, ideal for a pint on a sunny day. Smugglers Inn on the Teignmouth road is also a lovely place to sit out and enjoy the coastal view if you're passing.
An area I know well and holiday there regularly. Not mentioned yet is the ferry from starcross to exmouth. Can park the car for free on the street at starcross then get a return ferry to exmouth and spend the day there.
The pubs mentioned above I like too. Smugglers does a cracking carvery.
Shaldon is lovely, you can sit in pub gardens on the beach where the river teign meets the sea. Absolute bliss on a sunny day.
Oddicombe beach at babbacombe is beautiful on a sunny day too. Take the cliff railway and it takes you to a superb cove type beach
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
