Please can anyone recommend sites near cycle routes in Kent? My two junior school aged children and I want to get out and explore from the site on two wheels (each!) away from busy roads. We are looking for a quiet site without entertainment, etc but need 'proper' toilets and decent showers. We have camped quite a few times but not taken the bikes before, so any tips on storage, etc, would also be appreciated. If they allow campfires I think we would be in heaven. Happy camping everyone!

Broadhembury, just outside Ashford, is a cracking site. Toilet blocks are first class with hot, spacious showers. It's out in the countryside a bit, but easy access to local shops etc.
Plenty of room on site for kids to entertain themselves, and plenty of lanes to cycle round locally. Alternatively, assuming you have bike carriers, you can take bikes down to Hythe, or a bit further along coast, and plenty of cycling along the seafront pathways with good beaches to relax on.

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
Thank you Glyn, I've stayed there but didn't look into cycling at the time as the kids hadn't learnt to ride their bikes yet. I agree it s a fabulous site and remember the underfloor heating in the immaculate loo blocks! I didn't realise that there are cycle tracks nearby and will look into it. I do have a carrier and will try Hythe and further round the coast, probably for day trips, as I live on the coast. Many thanks for your suggestions.
Why not try us!
Rother Valley Caravan & Camping Park, in East Sussex but on the Kent border.
No cycling direct from the site but fantastic trails for family cycling at Bewl Water and Bedgebury within a 15 minute drive. Also cycling paths along the coast from Rye to Camber Sands.

Thank you Rother Valley. Your site looks wonderful and it looks from the UKCampsite availability calendar as if you might have a space when we are hoping to camp. I am going to try to phone you in a minute.
Hello Happy Mum - so sorry you will have probably reached answerphone as I'm online from home and the Office is closed now. If you have left a message the Wardens will pick it up first thing tomorrow and return your call.
If not then please send an email mail at rother-valley.com mentioning this thread (my name is Jackie) and hopefully we can fit you in when you wish to visit!
Sorry Jackie I hadn't realised that it was a bit late to phone. Have caught up with linda today and we have arranged a booking. She was really helpful. Thank you once again!
