Camped a lot when I was a kid and a bit before we had kids but are novices when it comes to camping with kids - its a whole different ballgame! Kids are under 5
Anyone reccommend a good family friendly site in north wales or south lakes (couple hours max from merseyside area) for a long weekend trip???
We have been to Beddgelert in Wales and also Hollands Wood in New forest with the kids so far and like both of these camping in the forest sites.

If you don't want a holiday camp type site then Riverside camping near Caernarfon is great. We went a couple of years ago and my girls had a fab time although a bit older than your kiddies. There is a lovely little park and a great cafe!
Try Manorafon at Abergele. Lovely little site with lots of animals for the kids to make friends with - pygmy goats, pigs, rabbits etc and even a couple of wallabies. A lovely walk up to and around the old castle and through the woods - about ten minutes from the site - five minutes walk from the town and Tesco and a five minute drive to the beach where there's some kiddies rides and a couple of cafes. Dead easy to get to from where you are and easily accessible from the A55. I've been several times and it's one of my favourites.

Hollin's farm, Silverdale - a nice site in a great area close to you... it is particularly family friendly as you get access to the fab indoor pool, playground and facilities at the caravan park over the road. Lovely walks and handy for Lancaster or south lakes attractions.

Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
