just heard on local radio that there is a shortage of midges in scotland as it is to hot and dry for them to survive.

You are probably right , they do not like it to warm or windy.

They are just lying in wait for the wet stuff,,don't want to say the real word

Great, since I can't find my Smidge! Actually, I've only encountered midges a couple of times when camping so far, but I generally go prepared.

I'm not surprised, been very few of them down in the south too, going by the lack of bites I've had.

they are all in bloomin Marsden....as soon as the sun went down the bloomin things were out for half hour or so...but we survived lol

We had 2 weeks in the Highlands, at the end of June, no problems with them at all.
It was a midge free zone
