I'm staying at park foot from 26th August for 6 night and now after reading some reviews I'm starting to think I wish I'd booked somewhere else how ever Ill make the most of it.

I'm on the "shop field" don't know what that means and on "camping gravel" again no idea what that is and I have EHU. Does anyone know these pitches ? Will I be cramed in ?

I chose this for the simple fact I have 3 kids with me and there seams lots for them to do.

Where else can I look at ? Is there any type of guide I can buy ?

Hi. We stayed here a few years ago as we were meeting up with friends. They picked the site. It is a big site which we would not normally choose. It was extremely busy the weekend we went. We were pitched on the pea gravel EHU pitches you describe. Just make sure you use a groundsheet to protect the bottom of your tent. The good thing about pea gravel is your pitch never gets muddy if it rains. The pitches are quite small and we did feel hemmed in. It was quite noisy too but we were possibly just unlucky that weekend. If you are not too fussed for EHU then I would recommend one of the pitches in the top field. The views are spectacular.

Sorry to paint such a grim picture. I'm sure there will be others along with a more positive experience.

There are lots of nice walks around the site and you can walk into Pooley Bridge which is a nice village.

I have just read some of the most recent reviews after I posted my reply. To be honest the reviews don't look too bad. Looks like the management may have sorted out the problems they had when we were there two years ago. I'm sure you will have a good time

The "shop field" sits by the shop, the shop is situated by the field.   The EHU is at the bottom of the shop field. When I had the EHU a couple of years ago. The pitch was normal gravel, I think, maybe slate.   Make sure you take extra ground sheet.

It will be hit and miss, who will be there. If I went there again, I would not have EHU and have one of the terraces further up.

Great walks, which can be reached walking to the top of the site and on to the fells.

or towards the Lake, along the shore to the village.

Blackpoolrock do you have an EHU extension lead and mains socket...?

Read this for more info here

As you intend to camp with the Vango Diablo 900xl (8.65m x 8.5m) I would just check they have a pitch big enough for the tent to fit on. They may have suitable sized pitches but just double check they are available and free.

ooooooh I will see you there! I am from blackpool lol! we are staying on the 26th for 5 nights!
The site is a real gem... absolutely fantastic, we love it. This is going to be our third time there in 2 months. The camping gravel is fine gravel and its advisable to get a footprint or grounsheet for underneath your tent if you don't have one already and rock pegs are a must! Normal flimsy tent pegs just bend.
The site itself is lovely, not crammed in at all. I always stay on shop field on ehu. The pitches are well spaced out and our tent & porch fit on no probs.
There is plenty to do for the kids ... 2 play areas and a stream to play in. The site sits on the edge of lake ullswater ... just a short walk thru the other camping field will take you to the lake and you can walk down to the village of pooley bridge where there are 3 child friendly pubs, a café with gift shop (café does a lovely breakfast and lovely ice cream) The crown inn is a fab pub with the river running thru it where all the kids buy fishing nets from the shop next door and get in the stream to fish.
The site has a clubhouse and also has reasonably priced takeaway, they do the usual pizza chips, gravy sausage curry, burgers etc. We don't usually bother with onsite food as we cater for ourselves but we did have a takeaway last time we were there the pizza was freshly made and very tasty and it cost us about a tenner for a pizza , chips and 2 pots of curry!
Hope this info helps and I may see you there!! whats ur tent I may pop by and say hi lol xx
